As a Project Engineer, you will manage engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site, ensuring compliance with Safety, Environmental, Quality, and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and according to quality standards, while supporting the continuous improvement of plant operations and sterile manufacturing processes. In this role, you will promote adherence to Sandoz's Code of Conduct, Integrity policies, and operational excellence standards, contributing to a safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead Engineering projects from conceptual phase through to commissioning. Define scope, budget, planning, and internal/external resources.
Ensure compliance with project management based on the general investment procedure.
Implement and design robust solutions, considering process requirements.
Preparation of Project Charters, F-CAR, P-CAR, SI, and Decision Matrices for new projects.
Ensure the implementation of corporate requirements in the development of assigned projects. Collaborate in the definition of user requirements/specifications.
Contracting, coordination, and supervision of services performed by external companies. Budget control.
Draft and sign work permits for general/special works.
Management of change control for the different projects.
Propose improvements to existing facilities and implementation of new technologies.
Identify risks in project execution and apply preventive measures.
Ensure that the generation and execution of facility qualification protocols are aligned with corporate standards.
Ensure compliance with facility requalification deadlines according to the VMP.
Ensure the safety of personnel and processes. Maintain order and cleanliness.
Execution of assigned safety actions in Enablon.
Ensure product quality and the aseptic process in the production area. Follow up on incidents.
Carry out/collaborate in deviation investigations.
Implement assigned CAPAs within the established timelines.
Complete assigned training (online/on-site) as required.
Management and leadership of the Department’s assigned SOPs.
Propose Energy Efficiency and Sustainability projects.
Provide support during internal and external audits.
Participate in the resolution of complex failures (Root Cause Analysis).
Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Head of Engineering and Maintenance.
Collaborate with other departments. Establish effective internal and external communication.
Keep knowledge up to date, both technical and in legal aspects related to environment, labor, hygiene, and safety.
Maintain a significant on-site presence at the plant facilities.
Collaborate in the role assigned within the Plant Emergency Plan.
Key Performance Indicators
No critical observations in internal/external Quality or HSE audits.
No serious injuries or fatalities in the assigned projects (0 accidents).
Timely completion of safety actions.
Maintain internal training record > 90%.
Meet the costs and deadlines of the assigned projects.
Timely completion of CAPAs and Deviations.
What you'll bring to the role
University degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering project management within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing capital investment projects, from concept design through execution, qualification, and handover.
Strong knowledge of GMP requirements, equipment qualification, validation processes, and change control management.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external suppliers in complex technical projects.
Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, budget, and timeline requirements.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
Commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Fluent in Spanish and English is mandatory. Catalan is considered an asset.

Sandoz compensation is determined by job level, qualifications, niche skills, experience, and location within company salary ranges. Fully proficient and highly effective employees can expect a starting salary around market median, with those new to the level or with less functional depth at the lower end of the range and those with sustained superior or niche skills towards the higher end of the range. Internal equity and external market data inform our range placement. Annual salary reviews consider performance outcomes, market alignment, and business needs.
