The US Head of Medical – Dyslipidemia is a leadership position that reports directly to the VP Medical Cardiovascular Renal Metabolism (CVRM), within the BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit’s US Medical CVRM franchise. The successful candidate will lead a team to develop product and disease area strategies and drive product launches for our novel Aldosterone Synthase Inhibitor (ASI) across the life-cycle.

What you’ll do:

Build and lead the dyslipidemia medical team, with accountability for the development and execution of disease area and brand strategies and plans

Accountable for disease area and brand budget and resource requirements

Partner effectively with the Commercial Lead, role-modeling effective teamwork across the enterprise

Effectively act as the US point of contact for the Global Product Team (GPT)

Provide the US viewpoint into life-cycle management/phase IV strategy and study design

Develop and maintain positive relationships with key external and internal customers

Anticipate future trends and needs in the marketplace

Coach, mentor and performance lead direct reports and take an active role in succession and talent management

Develop and foster a team culture that encourages continued growth and recognition

Collaborate and build internal and external networks

Deliver results in a sophisticated matrix environment, building capabilities, and leading large scale impactful medical initiatives

Lead the of launch of new products

Leverage AI and digital driven analytics, platforms and clinical solutions to improve medical planning, scientific engagement, evidence generation and patient outcomes

Ensure compliance with all AZ corporate policies

Requirements for the role:

Sophisticated Scientific Degree (MBBS, PharmD, PhD, or MD) or equivalent education

A minimum of 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs and in the dyslipidemia space

A minimum of 5 years of experience leading high performing teams in the pharmaceutical industry

Medical/clinical/scientific expertise in CVRM

US Regulatory Strategy Knowledge/Experience, including new product approval, labeling requirements/negotiations

Strong business acumen, with comprehensive understanding of the U.S. healthcare environment

Desirable Skills/Experience

Phase 3b/4 and post-approval dedication research including leading all aspects of patient registries and REMS programs

Translational medicine, population-based real-world research

Bridging with coordinated care management & Quality improvement pathways

Understanding of Health Outcomes Research including Patient-reported outcomes

Experience integrating emerging technologies, such as AI‑supported insights, machine learning tools, or digital medical platforms, into medical affairs strategies or operational processes.
