The Position

The Team Leader, whom also has product management capabilities, is accountable for the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and strategic planning through to launch, scaling, and eventual retirement. This role is pivotal in transforming scientific and business needs into tangible, high-value technology solutions. You will be responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the overarching goals of our organization and ultimately accelerates the delivery of life-changing diagnostics and medicines to patients. This role demands a distinctive combination of scientific inquisitiveness, technical proficiency, and business insight to successfully navigate the landscape.

Your primary objective is to lead engineering and service teams building desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable products that meet the evolving needs of our internal users while maintaining strict compliance with relevant industry standards.

Description of the area

The Travel & Expense Management Product consists of a complex, integrated landscape encompassing SAP Concur (Travel, Expense, and Intelligence), SAP ECC and S/4HANA, and Snowflake for analytics and compliance reporting. You will ensure total business continuity by managing and monitoring the critical middleware and integration layers that connect these components. Beyond technical stability, the role focuses on driving value through strategic SaaS vendor management and continuous service optimization.

This position serves as a key technical enabler for the Roche OneT&E vision, understanding and supporting business strategy of standardisation, optimization of travel policies, compliance, and corporate credit card initiatives. By aligning with Business Stakeholders (RSS and Global Procurement), you will ensure the seamless delivery of T&E technology for One T&E Strategy as well as major enterprise programs, including ASPIRE and Mergers and Acquisitions. This area involves translating business efficiency programs into technical reality, ensuring all solutions are delivered with the quality and timing necessary to support global organizational goals.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

Accountable for setting the direction for a product and ensuring that it achieves defined outcomes and financial objectives. Defines product strategy, roadmap, and features aligned with business goals, user needs and organisational policies. Proactively integrate relevant AI capabilities  into the product roadmap. Define, track, and communicate relevant KPIs for the product to measure its performance and contribution to business goals and strategy.

Customer-Centricity

Actively collect, understand, and prioritize the needs of internal users. Act as the primary owner of the “customer's” problem and be responsible for defining and delivering a solution that provides tangible value. Define and track key metrics related to user satisfaction, engagement, and value delivery, and use this data to inform product iterations.

Product Lifecycle Mgmt.

Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, guide its development, and manage its growth and eventual decline based on market research, customer feedback, and business goals. Manage the product in  compliance with emerging regulations.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Expand collaboration to a broader set of cross-functional teams and be responsible for aligning these teams around the product roadmap. Clearly communicate the product roadmap, timelines, and potential trade-offs to various stakeholders to manage their expectations effectively.

Team Leadership & Development

Align a cross-functional product team around a shared vision and create an environment where everyone can do their best work. Attract, hire, and onboard skilled employees to build a high-performing and collaborative team.

Performance & Optimization

Define success metrics, analyse user behavior, and identify opportunities for optimization to achieve business goals. Translate data into actionable insights and regularly communicate product performance to stakeholders and the wider team.

Financial & Resource Mgmt.

Develop detailed business cases for new products or significant features, including market analysis, revenue projections, and cost estimates. Make data-driven decisions on how to allocate engineering, design, and other resources to maximize impact and achieve product goals.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

5+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a similar role, with a proven track record of launching and managing technology products

2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry

1+ years of experience in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary technical teams

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle. Familiarity with GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations (GDPR).

Understanding of modern software architecture (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud platforms). Familiarity with data science and AI/ML concepts is a major plus.

Leadership skills (where applicable)

Ability to translate high-level business and scientific goals into a concrete product vision and roadmap.

Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to manage expectations and align diverse groups (scientists, engineers, executives) towards a common goal.

Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team and foster a collaborative environment.
