We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer (Level 4) with 10–12 years of experience in enterprise database technologies. This role is intended for a seasoned Database Engineer with strong Oracle and AWS expertise who can drive platform engineering, automation, modernization, and cloud adoption initiatives. The position focuses on building future-ready database services through engineering excellence, automation-first thinking, DevOps practices, and continuous service improvement, rather than traditional production database support activities.Location: Prague, Czech Republic #LI-Hybrid This role is based in Prague, Czech Republic. Key Responsibilities :Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Oracle and AWS database platforms, providing technical guidance and engineering expertise.Design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise database platform standards, automation frameworks, and engineering best practices.Evaluate new database technologies, versions, features, and cloud services; provide recommendations for adoption and implementation.Lead technical execution of database lifecycle initiatives including upgrades, migrations, modernization, and cloud transformation activities.Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and CI/CD practices to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.Engineer and optimize AWS database services including Oracle and PostgreSQL platforms.Collaborate with application, cloud, infrastructure, security, and architecture teams to deliver scalable and secure database solutions.Identify and implement opportunities to reduce manual effort, technical debt, operational risks, and service complexity through automation and standardization.Contribute to platform roadmaps, engineering standards, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing.Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, audit, and operational standards.Essential Requirement:10–12 years of overall database engineering and administration experience.Minimum 7+ years of Oracle Database engineering experience in enterprise environments.Minimum 3+ years of AWS cloud database experience.Hands-on experience with database upgrades, migrations, cloud transformation, and platform modernization initiatives.Experience designing and implementing automation solutions for database operations and engineering processes.Experience working within Agile and DevOps delivery models in large global organizations.Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: 948,290.00 - 1,354,700.00 - 1,761,110.00 CZK AnnualThe base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.The rewards of being part of our team go far beyond base pay and incentives.
