ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Specialist Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and solutions that meet business needs and ensuring the availability and performance of critical systems and applications within the Clinical Computation Platform Product Team. This role involves working closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to create high-quality, scalable software solutions and automating operations, monitoring system health, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business partners and other software engineers to develop and deploy the latest, advanced technologies in support of product optimization
Work closely with the delivery and platform teams to ensure that the applications are aligned with standard city planning approved architectural and development guidelines
Possesses strong rapid prototyping skills and can quickly translate concepts into working code
Contribute to both front-end and back-end development using cloud technology
Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using modern programming languages
Develop event-driven or service-oriented architectures that support large-scale enterprise systems.
Implement database schemas, queries, and data-processing pipelines across relational and NoSQL datastores.
Work with designers, data engineers, and platform teams to translate technical and business needs into backend solutions.
Produce documentation for service architecture, operational runbooks, and disaster recovery workflows.
Support requirements gathering and specification creation process for the development work
Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
Create and maintain documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations
Identify and resolve technical challenges effectively
Perform system testing and validation to ensure all components function correctly and efficiently
Implement automation tools and processes to improve the efficiency and reliability of managed systems
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s / Bachelor’s degree with 9 - 12 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka, SNS/SQS, Event Hubs).
Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT concepts.
Experience with programming languages including Python and Java
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
Experience with databases like SQL, Oracle, Redshift
Experience working with and developing APIs
Good-to-Have Skills:
Experience with DevOps tools and practices
Strong understanding of systems engineering processes and methodologies
Experience with systems integration and validation
Experience with Clinical Domain and GxP regulations
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
High degree of initiative and self-motivation
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
Willingness to learn new technologies
Shift Information:
This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
