Specialist Business Systems Analyst – Manufacturing Data & Analytics

In this vital role, you will apply manufacturing, data, and business-process expertise to translate business needs into clear product and system requirements. You will define epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, use cases, data requirements, and test scenarios that enable delivery teams to estimate, plan, and deliver with confidence.

The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing subject matter experts, process owners, data owners, Product Owners, developers, data engineers, architects, UX designers, and QA teams to ensure manufacturing data and analytics solutions meet business, functional, quality, and compliance expectations.

Roles and Responsibilities

Partner closely with manufacturing SMEs, process owners, data owners, and business stakeholders to understand operational processes, decisions, pain points, and information needs.

Lead workshops and interviews with SMEs to capture business rules, process variations, data definitions, exceptions, and acceptance criteria.

Translate SME knowledge into clear epics, features, user stories, process maps, use cases, data mappings, and test scenarios.

Capture the voice of the customer and translate business needs into product, process, data, and system requirements.

Facilitate the breakdown of epics into features and sprint-sized user stories.

Support product roadmaps, PI planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, and release planning.

Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are documented and prioritized in product and release backlogs.

Define manufacturing data, analytics, reporting, dashboard, KPI, and business-rule requirements.

Document data sources, mappings, transformations, calculations, validation rules, and reconciliation criteria.

Work with data engineers, architects, and analytics teams to ensure data products meet business needs.

Support data-quality analysis, lineage, reconciliation, issue resolution, and business validation.

Collaborate with UX/UI teams to align user journeys, process flows, requirements, and application designs.

Clarify requirements, resolve gaps, and facilitate alignment when SMEs or stakeholders have conflicting needs.

Validate proposed workflows, dashboards, data outputs, and application functionality with SMEs throughout design and development.

Develop functional, integration, regression, and user-acceptance test scenarios.

Validate delivered features against acceptance criteria, business rules, and customer expectations.

Support UAT by preparing test scenarios and data, coordinating SME and business-user participation, and documenting results.

Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects and work with delivery teams through resolution.

Collaborate with QA teams on test automation, performance validation, and release readiness.

Ensure SME feedback is incorporated throughout design, development, testing, UAT, and release preparation.

Develop and deliver product demonstrations for business, SME, and technical stakeholders.

Maintain accurate documentation of requirements, decisions, processes, user stories, and changes.

Use Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery tools to manage requirements, backlogs, defects, and sprint activities.

Work within Agile and Scaled Agile environments to deliver incremental business value.

Identify opportunities to automate manual activities and improve requirements, testing, and delivery processes.

Mentor other analysts and promote consistent business-analysis standards and reusable practices.

Stay current with manufacturing, data, analytics, cloud, AI, and product-delivery trends.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 8–13 years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Data, or a related field.

Must-Have Skills

Extensive experience in business systems analysis, product analysis, or requirements engineering.

Demonstrated experience working directly with business and technical SMEs to elicit, clarify, validate, and document complex requirements.

Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to translate specialized manufacturing and process knowledge into clear functional, data, and technical requirements.

Experience writing epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and process maps.

Experience supporting product roadmaps, PI planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, and user journeys.

Experience defining data, analytics, reporting, KPI, and dashboard requirements.

Understanding of data mapping, validation, business rules, reconciliation, lineage, and data-quality concepts.

Experience testing and validating user stories against business requirements and acceptance criteria.

Experience supporting functional testing, regression testing, defect management, and UAT.

Experience using Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable product-delivery tools.

Experience with Agile, SAFe, Scrum, DevOps, and iterative delivery practices.

Strong ability to communicate complex technical, manufacturing, and data concepts in clear business terms.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.

Ability to work effectively with global, virtual, and cross-functional teams.

Ability to quickly learn and apply new business processes, technologies, and tools.

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems, operational data, and analytics.

Experience working with manufacturing SMEs, process owners, engineering teams, or site stakeholders.

Familiarity with Databricks, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, and enterprise data architectures.

Understanding of Python, PySpark , SQL, FastAPI , APIs, and data-ingestion concepts.

Familiarity with AWS cloud services and cloud-based data and analytics platforms.

Understanding of modern web applications, REST APIs, UX principles, React, Angular, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.

Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, automated testing, DevOps, and software-engineering practices.

Experience with monitoring and visualization tools such as Grafana, Splunk, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent technologies.

Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve requirements documentation, process analysis, testing, and business productivity.

Familiarity with Generative AI, machine learning, and AI-enabled product requirements.

Experience with test automation tools or frameworks.

Experience supporting validated or regulated computerized systems.

Preferred Certifications

Scaled Agile Framework certification, preferred.

Business analysis, product management, or Agile certification, preferred.

AWS cloud, data, developer, or solutions architecture certification, preferred.

Databricks certification, preferred.
