In Sanofi’s Global eCommerce Software Engineering team we work at the intersection of business and software, partnering closely with business teams to revolutionize how we approach access to Sanofi’s lifesaving medicines and vaccines. Our mission is to leverage cutting-edge technology to innovate across the entire eCommerce platform from customer onboarding through shipment delivery. Today the eCommerce Software Engineering organization includes teams that own the end to end software for the global customer buying journeys, strategic accounts management, and tender management. This role reports directly to the Head of Software Engineering, eCommerce as part of the global Sanofi Digital eCommerce & Vaccines org.

Lead the Tender Management Software Engineering team responsible for building and maintaining Sanofi's global tender management ecosystem a mission-critical platform that enables strategic bidding decisions for high-value pharmaceutical tenders worldwide. Your team will own the full technical stack, from secure data management and workflow automation to enterprise integrations and analytics, directly impacting revenue protection and operational efficiency across our global commercial operations. Drive digital transformation by modernizing tender processes, integrating agentic AI models into the tender management ecosystem to provide competitive price predictions, ensuring compliance, and empowering cross-functional teams with the tools and insights needed to win competitive bids while safeguarding sensitive pricing data.

Main responsibilities:

Scope & Impact:

Manages a full stack engineering team, typically consisting of up to 7 direct reports

Must have the maturity to manage individual contributor at higher levels than themselves

Drives technical vision for a specialized domain within the broader eCommerce technology landscape

Focuses on delivering exceptional solutions within a defined technical scope, while contributing to the overall engineering strategy

Coordinate and collaborate with technical and non-technical cross functional partners and stakeholders to influence the final product, the technical build, and the timeline to achieve the overall best outcome

Spends approximately 60% of their time managing the team, writing/reviewing design documents, and collaborating with partners and stakeholders and 40% of their time contributing directly to the codebase, and participating in code reviews

Prioritization & Execution:

Drives execution by organizing teamwork, setting goals, and holding the team accountable

Monitors and escalates issues with team capacity

Empowers team members to own their work

Prioritizes and values unowned or undesirable work that enables the team to move faster

Aligns domain-specific priorities with overall eCommerce Software Engineering objectives and strategic initiatives

Directs team efforts to oversee planning, execution, and delivery of features that require multi system design and integration

Technical Excellence:

Is accountable for the technical output of the team

Upholds a high technical bar while making pragmatic tradeoffs

Develops deep technical expertise in focused domains critical to eCommerce innovation

Establishes best practices and technical standards within their area of focus

Coaching & Development:

Coaches, provides timely, actionable feedback and advice, and invests time in career development of team members; e.g., via 1:1s and aligning employee growth with opportunity

Responsible for recruiting, performance reviews, performance management, promotions, and career planning in partnership with their manager

Leadership & Collaboration:

Sets direction for the team on a regular cadence in partnership with their manager

Collaborates with stakeholders including customers, product owners, scrum masters, and others in development and execution of the team's roadmap

Connects the dots between product and/or business requirements and technical goals and constraints. Translating technical jargon to provide feedback to non-technical partners to influence the requirements to achieve the best outcome

Communicates strategy, rationale, and progress within the team and to external and internal stakeholders

Works with their team and adjacent teams to solve problems. Escalates problems that have wider scope

Contributes strategic thinking within their domain while maintaining strong alignment with broader organizational objectives

Partners with leadership and peers on technical direction, enabling more effective resource allocation and strategic planning across the eCommerce software engineering organization

About you  

Your experience :

8+ years of experience (or equivalent knowledge). If you feel qualified, apply regardless of years of experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is a plus

Experience in an innovative, fast-paced environment

Experience managing engineering teams and developing team members professionally

Experience managing a globally distributed team is a bonus but not required

Ability to develop and execute a technical vision within a defined scope

Experience translating organizational strategy into actionable team objectives

Demonstrated ability to drive technical excellence while contributing to the broader engineering ecosystem

Experience working with multiple global teams to drive alignment and results

Technical Requirements:

Experience with one or more of the major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

Infrastructure as Code – Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar

Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript/Node.js

Experience with an Object-Oriented language such as Java, C, C++, or Python

Proficiency in React or similar framework

Experience building and maintaining microservice architectures, designing APIs, and cloud security best practices knowledge

Experience with systems design, systems integration design, and implementing integrating multiple systems and/or services both internal and external

CI/CD practices and DevOps principles

Experience with modern database best practices

Experience with Salesforce a plus but not required

Experience with Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, copilot or similar AI tools in a development environment a plus but not required

Experience with Informatica and Snowflake a plus but not required

Experience with Mulesoft a plus but not required

Experience integrating agentic AI and ML models into an enterprise production system a plus but not required

Language:

Excellent written and verbal communication in English

The salary range for this position is :€59 600,00 - €89 400,00 Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
