Job Description:
Main Responsibilities:
The MSL is a field-based professional with scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise who is responsible for supporting, on a non-promotional basis, medical and scientific initiatives for marketed and pipeline products. The MSL works in coordination with the rest of the medical unit to meet the medical department objectives. He/she participates in the identification of local opportunities, using his/her network of contacts, knowledge of therapeutic areas and health characteristics of the population in each area. Consequently, the MSL has responsibility in the development and implementation of the scientific activities and the clinical plan . For Sr. MSL, she/he should have the capacities for central strategy development and localization, can proactively identify and develop solutions for business development.
Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies:
Maintaining, updating, and disseminating scientific knowledge
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant scientific information (by performing literature searches, participation in medical congresses and conferences of relevance to Ipsen’s disease and therapeutic area interests)
Disseminate this knowledge as appropriate to HCPs in response to requests, in accordance with applicable laws
Proactively provide fair, balanced, and transparent medical and scientific exchange in disease area management
Maintain medical profiling database of HCPs and TLs
Current and potential sources of clinical and scientific expertise (known experts, rising stars, etc.)
Current and potential principal investigators, speakers
Informational needs of individual TLs/HCPs
Need for scientific information in disease area and therapy of individual TLs/HCPs
Identification and initiation of opportunities to fulfil these needs.
Identify and invite TL and appropriately qualified HCP participation in Advisory Boards
Inform KTLs and HCPs in disease areas of interest to Ipsen
Identify opportunities to inform TLs and HCPs in disease areas of interest to Ipsen
Organize and participate in the distribution and presentation of non-promotional materials
Provide scientific and medical content for, and participate in, the preparation and delivery of presentations by TLs and HCPs speaking on behalf of Ipsen in educational programs and at other meeting
Involvement with clinical research studies
Support internal medical review and facilitate processing of unsolicited Externally Sponsored Study (ESS) requests
Proactively support HCPs and Ipsen Clinical Operations Departments in evaluating potential clinical research sites and investigators for Ipsen-Sponsored Studies
Demonstrates high-level scientific acumen and sound medical judgement which provides value to Ipsen and leads to sustainable relationships with HCPs
Maintains highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Demonstrates and ability to build and maintain a strong network of effective scientific relationships with stakeholders and maintain an understanding for HCPs, to achieve trusted advisor status
Engaging presenter/trainer, impactful and memorable, having gravitas with medics and non-medics alike and strong communication, networking, and stakeholder skills
Able to develop and implement appropriate elements of medical strategy, whilst knowing how to be creative & compliant at the same time
Demonstrates excellent time management skills and can manage complex and to adapt to new circumstances & ideas. Demonstrates an ability to be entrepreneurial and able to work in a highly dynamic environment
For Sr. MSL position, proactively joins into central team to support China medical strategy and relevant annual medical plan development, then to be a model in regional execution in medical team
For Sr. MSL position, proactively identify the business opportunities,feedback/coordinate cross-function for the discussion of opportunities and leverage resources to medical tactics to generate greater medical impact.
For Sr. MSL position, has capacities to be a perfect delegate to take the leader role for national or key projects execution at the cross-region level
Requirement:
Knowledge & Experience (essential):
Biomedical, Scientific University education ideally to post-graduate degree level -e.g. PhD, MD, PharmD
Qualified and rich experience of Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs)
Hepatopathy, Immunology, Oncology related background is preferred
Language: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken scientific English
Working knowledge of the relevant Code of Practice
As senior MSL position, candidate must have excellent field MSL experience, be skilled at understanding of medical strategy and localization, TL insights collection and other excellent execution performance.
(preferred) Excellent Industry Medical Affairs working experience
Education / Certifications:
(essential) Mastery degree in Clinical Medicine and relevant majors
Experience i n Hhepatopathy, Immunology, Oncology is highly preferred
Language(s):
(essential) Excellent on medical and office English both for reading and writing
(preferred) Fluent for Spoken English
