About the Role

The Senior Manager, Cost Management Continuous Improvement, will be based in AIN and will be part of the Project Controls organization within Amgen Engineering. This role will report to the Engineering Projects Director, Project Controls and will lead the Cost Management Continuous Improvement tower supporting cost management services across global capital projects.

This role will lead a high-performing team across cost management, project controls support, and project finance / Source-to-Pay activities. The Senior Manager will be responsible for service delivery, team leadership, SAP-enabled process discipline, continuous improvement, and standardization to improve quality, productivity, cost visibility, and execution support across the project lifecycle

The role will also help strengthen compliance to established project controls, finance, and Source-to-Pay processes, while maintaining audit-ready data, documentation, and reporting discipline that supports cost predictability and visibility.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead the Cost Management Continuous Improvement tower supporting global capital projects.

Manage and develop a high-performing team across cost management, project controls support, and project finance / Source-to-Pay activities.

Oversee cost management services including cost reporting, forecast support, commitments, actuals, accruals, change tracking, budget tracking, variance analysis, and closeout support.

Drive standardization, continuous improvement, and process discipline across cost management workflows, tools, templates, and ways of working.

Serve as a functional lead for SAP-enabled project cost management processes, partnering with digital and process teams as needed.

Establish and monitor service delivery metrics to improve quality, timeliness, productivity, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Partner with Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, Procurement, Source-to-Pay, and project teams to improve cost visibility and execution support.

Own business requirements, reporting standards, and data discipline needed to support cost management reporting and analytics.

Strengthen compliance and audit readiness across cost management, reporting, Source-to-Pay, and project controls processes through clear documentation, data integrity, and process discipline.

Lead resource planning, onboarding, workload allocation, and quality oversight across internal and external resources supporting the tower.

Support adoption of AIN Project Controls services through strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent).

12–17 years of work experience in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field

Experience in the global pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Functional Skills (Must Have):

Strong experience leading teams, service delivery, and operational performance in a project controls or capital project environment.

Deep understanding of cost management, project controls, forecasting, reporting, commitments, actuals, accruals, and variance analysis.

Strong experience with SAP-enabled cost management, project controls, finance, or Source-to-Pay processes.

Ability to drive continuous improvement, standardization, process discipline, and productivity across large teams.

Experience partnering across Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Source-to-Pay, Digital, and project teams.

Strong ability to use AI Tools, data, reporting, and process metrics to improve visibility, quality, and decision-making.

Strong understanding of process compliance, audit readiness, documentation discipline, and internal controls within project controls, cost management, or finance-related workflows.

Ability to lead through influence across global, cross-functional stakeholder environments.

Good-to-Have Skills:

Experience supporting capital projects within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or advanced manufacturing industry.

Experience working in a centralized service model or global capability center.

Familiarity with Power BI, dashboards, automation, analytics, or project controls reporting tools.

Experience managing or coordinating internal and external project controls / cost management resources.

Experience improving finance, procurement, or Source-to-Pay workflows related to capital projects.

Professional Certifications:

Relevant certification in project management, project controls, cost management, continuous improvement, finance, or related discipline preferred

Soft Skills:

Strong people leadership, coaching, and team development skills.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to simplify complexity and create practical ways of working.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to work collaboratively across global teams, cultures, and time zones.
