The Position
Introduction
The Principal Platform Architect focuses on ensuring the security, compliance, stability, and integrity of the ServiceNow platform (ITSx, HRSD, CSM, etc.) and its connected ecosystem. In this highly strategic role, you will guide others in resolving complex security and risk-related issues, define and manage overarching ServiceNow Security Architecture, technical compliance, and Platform Health & Resiliency. As a recognized leader in architecture practices, you will develop a Security and Governance Roadmap, oversee the technical control framework, and drive the adoption of best-in-class security standards across the enterprise.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will be at the forefront of securing our enterprise digital backbone. You will:
Establish and govern security and compliance requirements (NFRs) for all platform applications and integrations to ensure global alignment.
Architect and audit the platform's security posture throughout the entire product life cycle, adhering strictly to internal policies and external standards like GDPR, HIPAA, and GxP.
Drive Security Reference Architectures and Hardening Patterns, systematically recording and publishing critical Architecture Risk Decisions (ARDs).
Design and implement robust data loss prevention (DLP) and disaster recovery/business continuity capabilities to ensure zero-disruption platform resiliency.
Lead technical governance by defining standards and evaluating new demands against platform capabilities and industry best practices.
Influence senior stakeholders by communicating complex technical strategies and partnering closely to align platform security with evolving business needs.
Optimize platform health by guiding design considerations for performance, integration, and remediation of configurations to maintain a "clean-core" environment.
Mentor and develop architectural talent across the organization, serving as a recognized leader in secure coding and architecture practices.

Experienced Professional: You bring a proven track record of leading major, end-to-end ServiceNow implementations across multiple domains like ITSM, HRSD, and CSM.

Similar opportunities
The closest matches from our peer group, ranked by how similar they are, not how well you'd qualify for them -- treat this as market context, not a guaranteed shortlist; a weak match is labeled as one below.
How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
