Position Overview
Johnson & Johnson is seeking a highly motivated Manager, Full Stack Engineering to lead the design, development, modernization, and delivery of enterprise digital products and cloud-native applications that support business-critical capabilities across Clinical Development, R&D, Medical Affairs, and enterprise technology organizations.
This role will provide people leadership and technical direction for full stack engineering teams responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and user-centric applications. The successful candidate will partner with product managers, architects, data and AI teams, business stakeholders, cybersecurity, quality, and platform engineering teams to build modern solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and digital user experiences.
The ideal candidate brings strong engineering leadership, hands-on knowledge of modern front-end and back-end technologies, cloud-native architecture, API design, Agile delivery, DevSecOps, and regulated technology delivery practices.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of full stack engineers, technical leads, and application developers.
Set engineering standards for secure coding, architecture, code quality, testing, observability, and production readiness.
Drive technical excellence through design reviews, code reviews, reusable patterns, and engineering communities of practice.
Build a culture of ownership, innovation, inclusion, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Full Stack Product Engineering
Lead development of modern web applications, APIs, services, dashboards, portals, workflow applications, and digital products.
Guide architecture and implementation across front-end, back-end, integration, database, authentication, and deployment layers.
Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, accessible, performant, and aligned with enterprise technology standards.
Partner with Product Management and UX teams to translate user needs into intuitive, reliable, and valuable digital experiences.
Cloud-Native Architecture & Platforms
Drive adoption of cloud-native design patterns, microservices, API-first architecture, containerization, and managed cloud services.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture and platform engineering teams to define reusable application patterns and reference architectures.
Ensure effective use of cloud capabilities for resiliency, monitoring, cost optimization, automation, and scalability.
Support modernization of legacy applications into modern, modular, and cloud-ready technology platforms.
DevSecOps & Operational Excellence
Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, quality gates, security scans, infrastructure automation, and release management practices.
Establish operational KPIs covering reliability, performance, deployment frequency, incident trends, and service health.
Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, and quality teams to ensure secure software development lifecycle practices.
Drive root cause analysis, technical debt reduction, application rationalization, and continuous platform improvement.
Stakeholder & Product Delivery
Lead Agile delivery teams using Product Operating Model principles and outcome-focused execution.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, data teams, AI teams, testing teams, and vendor partners.
Create delivery roadmaps, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and communicate progress clearly to senior stakeholders.
Balance speed, quality, compliance, user needs, and long-term sustainability in technology decisions.
Compliance, Security & Quality
Ensure applications comply with applicable enterprise security, privacy, quality, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
Support delivery practices aligned with GxP, Computer System Validation (CSV), GDPR, HIPAA, and internal J&J technology standards where applicable.
Maintain audit-ready engineering documentation, traceability, and release evidence for regulated applications.
Promote responsible use of data and AI-enabled capabilities within application experiences.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
10+ years of experience in software engineering, full stack development, enterprise application delivery, or digital product engineering.
5+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams, technical leads, or distributed delivery teams.
Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale applications using modern front-end, back-end, API, and cloud technologies.
Experience implementing Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production support practices.
Experience working with global stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams in a matrixed organization.
Experience in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or other regulated industries preferred.

Experience with Product Operating Model, platform thinking, reusable engineering assets, and product-based delivery.
Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, software architecture, Agile, DevOps, cybersecurity, or application engineering.
Strong executive interpersonal skills with the ability to simplify sophisticated technology topics for business stakeholders.
