Role Summary

The Medical Review Team Lead oversees team accountability, hiring, onboarding, and leadership, supervises promotional content reviews, and ensures high-quality and timely service.

The Medical Review Team lead also mentors team, manages timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, coordinates deliverables, fosters cross-functional relationships, identifies process improvements, communicates with management, and leads financial planning for medical review deliverables supporting in-scope business units.

Role Responsibilities

Team Management:

•Oversight and accountability of Medical Review team as outlined in the service catalogue

•Hiring, onboarding and leadership of the Medical Review team members

•Supervision and review of promotional, sales training and medical to medical materials work performed by the colleagues in order to provide high quality and timely service.

•Provides the direction and oversight of processes and colleagues responsible for medical reviews supporting in scope BUs.

•Actively trains/mentors team members for the effective execution of assigned tasks and goals.

•Ensuring delivery of all required activities within expected timelines and on budget.

•Coordinating the activity of other colleagues in the team and ensuring the quality and accuracy and timeliness of the deliverables.

•Develop and sustain constructive relationships within other Pfizer lines including country organizations.

•Identify potential areas for process improvements and possible solutions and communicate these to management.

•Leads MR financial projections and budget management for deliverables

•Oversee resource utilization and plan allocations accordingly

Leadership

•Works closely with the US Medical Leads and Global/US Medical Affairs.

•Interacts with Regulatory, Safety and Medical Affairs colleagues, Biopharma Ops, Biopharma Quality, and Medical colleagues at Local, Regional and Global level.

•Works with and engages Sr. Leadership e.g. Global Medical Leads, BU Medical Excellence Leads, Global Marketing Leads, Global Brand Curriculum Leads

•Hire, onboard, and mentor new team members, including training and capability development

Operational Management

•Conduct in-depth analysis of resource utilization data to develop robust business cases that support both resource and scope expansion initiatives.

•Weekly, monthly and quarterly metrics reporting to relevant stakeholders

•Lead operational support for congress planning, projections, and enterprise-level initiatives

•Manage weekly trackers, resource utilization, and operational planning for the MR team

•Drive strategic project/program management including deliverables, timelines, and risk identification

•Drive alignment on medical content systems and metadata optimization for global-to-local workflows

Strategic Management

•Collaborate proactively with Leads of MCC and Business Unit Medical/Commercial teams to effectively cascade and embed strategic development initiatives within the reviewer community.

•Serve as a pivotal liaison between global and IDM stakeholders, ensuring seamless alignment and communication across all levels of the organization.

•Cultivate and strengthen relationships with both global and local congress stakeholders, actively engaging to enhance and optimize the review and approval processes for congress materials.

External Leadership & Stakeholder Management

•Engages with Medical Leads and Marketing leads to ensure smooth workflow for medical review of promotional and sales training materials.

•Develops and sustains constructive relationships between customers and stakeholders.

•Leads communication with different stakeholders and their departments for a coordinated structure of functions and workflow.

Basic Qualifications

•Graduate/Post-graduate/ Doctorate degree in life sciences/Pharmacy/Medical sciences or equivalent degrees.

Experience

•Preferred 6 to 8 years relevant experience for medical graduates, PhDs & masters in life sciences/ more than 8 years relevant experience for science graduates.

•Minimum 3 years of experience in medical writing/review within an agency, CRO, Pharma / Biotech Company.

•Experience in collaborating with Global stakeholders and managing stringent timelines.

•Prior experience in medical content creation or promotional material review is preferred

•Leadership and team management

•Writing skills: Excellent scientific writing skills, including an ability to summarize and interpret complicated data effectively, concisely and persuasively.

•Analytic skills: Ability to aggregate and analyze data and draw conclusions based on the analyses.

•Language skills: High fluency in written English and strong functional fluency in spoken English.

•Personal skills: Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

•Interpersonal skills: Effective influencing and negotiating skills, and ability to work well with all levels and roles in cross-functional, global teams.  Ability to mentor more junior colleagues and external vendors.

•Software: Previous experience with software commonly used to present and analyze data (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is preferred.

•Familiarity with the US and global promotional and medical material guidelines and regulations is preferred
