The Position

Medical Affairs Business Analyst - Pharma R&D

The opportunity

Within the Pharma Organisation Medical Affairs serves as the bridge between clinical development and the commercialization of medicines. The domain is increasingly focused on External Stakeholder Engagement, aiming to derive deep insights into unmet medical needs, treatment barriers, and patient perceptions of data. By synthesizing these insights, Medical Affairs shapes the organization’s overall strategic direction. As an IT Business Analyst in this space, you will support the digital transformation of how scientific evidence is generated, managed, and communicated to the global medical community.

End-to-End Workstream Management: Independently drive and manage comprehensive business analysis workstreams, navigating ambiguous problem spaces and adapting standard frameworks to deliver clear, structured outcomes.

Problem Solving & Requirements Accountability: Lead domain research and root cause analysis to define comprehensive requirements, contribute heavily to technical solution selection, and propose creative process improvements.

Technical Landscape & Product Strategy Alignment: Maintain a holistic view of how various technical components fit into the overall product strategy, formulating technical strategies that align directly with broader organizational objectives.

Application & Data Domain Mastery: Serve as the authoritative Subject Matter Expert (SME) by bridging the gap between business processes and technical execution, maintaining expert knowledge of the end-to-end information lifecycle and data transformations.

Cross-Functional & Site-Level Collaboration: Operate at the product or site level to directly influence technical decisions, leading cross-functional teams to resolve complex business or systems issues.

Knowledge Sharing & Community Engagement: Act as a technical mentor to junior team members, actively present at internal tech events (e.g., Tech Talks, DevOps Days), and engage in initiatives outside the regular project scope to drive engineering innovation.

Who you are

Professional Experience: Bring 5+ years of Business Analysis or consultancy experience, including at least 3+ years within the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.

Workstream & Requirement Management: Proven ability to independently manage end-to-end BA workstreams, navigate ambiguous requirements, and translate them into strategic implementation plans.

Technical BA Proficiency: Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, documentation, traceability, and change management, with the ability to apply standard process and usability analysis tools.

Data Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, data visualization techniques, relational databases, and non-relational data structures.

Stakeholder & Problem Solving Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to prioritize effectively, maintain a big-picture strategic view, and propose process improvements .
