The Opportunity

We are looking for a visionary Lead UX Designer & Frontend Engineer to shape the future of our digital products in the life sciences sector. In this hybrid leadership role, you will be the driving force behind the user interfaces and complex dashboards that empower our Machine Learning and Data Science teams.

Operating at the intersection of UX design and high-performance frontend engineering, you will translate complex bioinformatics, PCR, and sequencing data into intuitive, lightning-fast web applications. If you are passionate about building scalable UI architectures and graphing millions of data points to drive scientific innovation, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture:

Act as the bridge between UX, Frontend, and Backend teams, driving architecture and design discussions to establish robust technical solutions and API designs (REST/GraphQL).

Lead the end-to-end frontend implementation of enterprise-scale business applications deployed on AWS.

Mentor and guide junior frontend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, code quality, and continuous learning.

UX Engineering & System Design:

Own the user experience for highly complex data tools, ensuring seamless workflows for data scientists and researchers.

Champion, maintain, and expand our internal component library (R-Design System) to ensure visual consistency across all products.

Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile/SCRUM environment to map out user journeys and interface requirements.

Advanced Frontend & Data Visualization:

Build scalable, responsive, and highly interactive frontends using Vue.js and Tailwind CSS.

Architect high-performance data visualization solutions capable of rendering millions of data points smoothly in the browser using D3.js.

Interface directly with AWS cloud services and help shape backend interface requirements.

Who You Are

You are an engineering champion and a collaborative technical leader who is passionate about leveraging technology to transform medicine. You thrive when navigating ambiguity, enjoy solving complex data challenges, and excel at empowering your team through technical mentorship.

Qualifications & Skills

The Must-Haves:

5+ years of hands-on software development experience using modern JavaScript MVC frameworks, with deep, proven expertise in Vue.js.

Strong practical experience with D3.js, including optimizing browser performance for rendering massive datasets.

The Nice-to-Haves:

A background or strong domain knowledge in life sciences, specifically Sequencing, PCR, Bioinformatics, or digital healthcare.

Previous experience working within large, globally distributed enterprise environments (e.g., Pharma, MedTech).

Excellent command of HTML5, CSS3, SASS, and modern utility-first frameworks like Tailwind CSS.

Extensive experience driving technical decisions in Agile/SCRUM environments and collaborating on API standards such as REST or GraphQL.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
