position overview
The HVAC Lead – Clean Concept is the technical workstream leader responsible for the full design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and qualification of all HVAC systems and cleanroom environments within a major pharmaceutical capital project (€1 billion). This role ensures that all HVAC and clean concept solutions comply with GMP regulations, Sanofi global engineering standards, and HSE requirements, while meeting energy efficiency and carbon neutrality targets.
Main responsibilities:
Lead the HVAC & Cleanroom design workstream end-to-end, from feasibility through qualification (C&Q), covering all cleanroom classifications (ISO 5–8 / EU GMP Grade A–D) and defining the Clean Concept (room classification, pressure cascades, airlock design, contamination control strategy)
Ensure compliance with Sanofi global standards for cleanroom design, HVAC energy optimization, air flow/air change rates, and environmental barriers (RABS/isolators), while overseeing design of AHUs, HEPA filtration (H13+), pressurization, temperature/humidity control, and containment strategies
Coordinate technical delivery with EPC contractors and engineering firms, reviewing and approving HVAC specifications, P&IDs, datasheets, and FAT/SAT protocols, including HVAC automation (PLC/BMS) design
Drive system integration across process, utilities, instrumentation, and BIM teams to ensure seamless 3D integration of HVAC systems into the overall building model
Champion Energy & Sustainability goals by applying Carbon Neutral Design principles (optimized air recycling, energy-efficient equipment selection) and ensuring alignment with Sanofi's CO₂ reduction targets and zero fossil primary energy design where applicable
Own HSE & GMP compliance throughout the project lifecycle (Phase 0–8), including pharmaceutical dust emission management, occupational hygiene controls for APIs, and participation in Pre-Start HSE Reviews (PSSR)
Manage the HVAC workstream schedule, budget, and reporting, tracking contractor progress, managing scope changes, and presenting status updates to the Engineering Project Manager and Project Steering Committee
Oversee FAT/SAT testing for all HVAC equipment to ensure readiness for qualification and handover
Serve as the single point of contact for all HVAC/Clean Concept topics, liaising with Quality, HSE, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and the site HSE Manager/Business Partner to validate design choices

Similar opportunities
The closest matches from our peer group, ranked by how similar they are, not how well you'd qualify for them -- treat this as market context, not a guaranteed shortlist; a weak match is labeled as one below.
How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
