About this opportunity

Position Overview

The GEO Strategy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Pfizer China's Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy, ensuring the company's brands, products, and healthcare information are accurately, prominently, and compliantly represented across AI-powered search and discovery platforms, including large language model (LLM)-based search engines, generative AI assistants, and emerging digital health discovery tools. Reporting to the GTMx Solution Lead for Commercial AI Innovation, this role pioneers a cutting-edge commercial discipline at the frontier of AI and pharmaceutical marketing, enabling Pfizer China to lead in AI-era brand visibility, healthcare professional engagement, and patient reach.

Key Responsibilities

GEO Strategy Development

Design and implement a comprehensive GEO framework for Pfizer China's commercial brands, defining standards, methodologies, and best practices for optimizing content visibility and factual accuracy on generative AI platforms (e.g., TikToK, Alibaba, Tencent and other AI discovery tools).

Develop a multi-year GEO roadmap aligned with brand lifecycle stages, product launch timelines, and Pfizer China's overall AI innovation agenda.

AI Platform Landscape Monitoring

Continuously track the evolving landscape of generative AI search and discovery platforms, assessing their commercial relevance, audience reach, and potential impact on pharmaceutical brand presence and HCP/patient decision-making.

Provide forward-looking intelligence on emerging GEO opportunities and risks to senior leadership and brand teams, enabling proactive strategic response.

Content Strategy & Optimization

Partner with brand teams, medical affairs, regulatory, and digital functions to develop compliant, GEO-optimized content assets that enhance brand representation in AI-generated responses, recommendations, and knowledge panels.

Establish content governance standards for AI-era publications, ensuring scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistent brand messaging across generative AI environments.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with marketing, medical affairs, communication, regulatory/legal, compliance, digital, and CMO teams to embed GEO thinking into product launch strategies, brand campaigns, and commercial communications planning.

Serve as a GEO subject matter expert within cross-functional squads and strategic planning forums, connecting GEO insights to broader commercial decision-making.

Performance Analytics & Measurement

Define GEO-specific KPIs and measurement frameworks; track and analyze brand visibility, share-of-answer, factual accuracy of AI-generated content, and audience reach metrics across targeted platforms.

Deliver regular performance reports and data-driven recommendations to brand and commercial leadership, enabling continuous strategy refinement.

Technology & Vendor Management

Evaluate, pilot, and manage partnerships with technology vendors, content platforms, AI solution providers, and specialized GEO agencies to support strategy execution and capability scaling.

Drive POC initiatives and technology pilots to validate GEO tools and approaches before enterprise rollout.

Internal Education & Enablement

Develop GEO guidelines, training materials, and best practice toolkits to build internal GEO competency across marketing, medical, and digital teams.

Champion GEO literacy across the organization through workshops, case studies, and thought leadership communications, building a culture of AI-era commercial innovation.

Regulatory & Compliance Adherence

Ensure all GEO activities comply with NMPA guidelines, Pfizer's global promotional standards, and data privacy requirements (PIPL), navigating the unique compliance landscape of pharmaceutical content in generative AI environments.

Engage proactively with regulatory and legal stakeholders to develop compliant GEO approaches that balance innovation with risk management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in digital marketing, SEO/SEM strategy, content marketing, digital strategy, or commercial roles, ideally within pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, or technology sectors.

Solid understanding of search engine optimization principles with demonstrated curiosity and drive to extend them into the generative AI domain; direct experience with LLM-based platforms or AI-powered search is a significant plus.

Familiarity with major global and China-based AI platforms (ChatGPT/OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Qwen, YuanBao, Doubao, etc.) and their commercial and regulatory implications.

Demonstrated ability to translate complex digital trends into actionable commercial strategies; strong analytical, data interpretation, and strategic communication skills.

Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive alignment without direct authority.

Experience with content management systems, marketing analytics platforms, and digital measurement tools; familiarity with AI content testing methodologies is a plus.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
