The Position
The Domain Architect – Sites & Services is a senior, pivotal role within the SPG (Strategy, Portfolio & Governance) Enterprise Architecture Business Partnering Functions team. This role serves as the critical connector between the Strategy, Portfolio & Governance (SPG) organization and the global Sites, SHE & Sustainability function with a focus on the Sites. Reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Architecture Business Partnering Functions with a dotted line to the Sites leadership team, you will champion our enterprise architecture practices while deeply understanding the unique complexities of Roche’s global site footprint, corporate real estate, and facility management operations.
Crucially, in our federated Roche Digital Technology (RDT) model, you will act as the principal orchestrator of the Sites architecture network. By leading this network, which includes yourself alongside all domain and solution architects embedded directly within the Sites organization, you will drive architecture governance and strategy formulation, ensure enterprise coherence, and translate business goals into adaptable, future-ready technology roadmaps.
Description of the Area
The Enterprise Architecture Business Partnering Functions area serves as the strategic architectural interface for business domain leaders, fostering collaboration to align applications, business capabilities, and information assets with technology solutions. For the Sites domain, this involves deeply integrating with product and engineering teams across the core Sites function, Data, Analytics & AI, and the Regional Business Partnering teams (e.g., Switzerland, Germany, US West Coast, US Mid-West and East Coast). This architectural role ensures that the bridge between SPG’s enterprise vision and the local operational execution for Roche's physical footprint and smart building initiatives is seamless, collaborative, and highly effective.
The Opportunity:
Drive strategic business partnering by acting as the primary architectural liaison between SPG and the Sites function to align real estate priorities with multi-year technology roadmaps.
Orchestrate the global architecture network across regional sites, empowering embedded domain and solution architects to execute efficiently while adhering to shared enterprise principles.
Lead architecture governance by defining technology guardrails and non-functional requirements, including IoT network security, physical access control resilience, and operational data privacy.
Steer critical program delivery for high-impact initiatives such as smart building deployments, connected workplace technologies, and global real estate portfolio rationalization.
Develop core domain architecture deliverables, including Facility Management capability maps, target-state architectures, and reference blueprints utilizing the ArchiMEDES toolchain.
Align portfolio investments by embedding architectural insights into funding decisions, maximizing platform reuse, and actively minimizing technical debt across global sites.
Evaluate emerging technology innovations and vendor solutions (such as digital twins for buildings and advanced IoT facility ecosystems) to ensure alignment with operational needs.
Foster a collaborative workplace culture that balances enterprise coherence with local agility, transforming complex architectural visions into scalable, real-world value.
Who you are:
Educated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
Experienced within IT and architecture, showcasing a proven track record as a senior Domain or Enterprise Architect in a complex, matrixed, or federated environment.
Deeply knowledgeable in the Sites domain, with comprehensive experience supporting corporate real estate, facility management, physical security, or building management systems.
Proficient in technical architecture design, including capability modeling, target-state blueprints, and aligning roadmaps with evolving business capabilities.
Skilled in modern digital platforms, possessing technical fluency across IoT ecosystems, smart building platforms, cloud architectures, and connected workplace applications.
An impactful network and community leader, with a demonstrated ability to influence, align, and inspire federated teams of architects without direct reporting authority.
An exceptional communicator and strategic advisor, expert at architectural storytelling, translating complex technical concepts into business narratives, and building trust with senior leadership.

Similar opportunities
The closest matches from our peer group, ranked by how similar they are, not how well you'd qualify for them -- treat this as market context, not a guaranteed shortlist; a weak match is labeled as one below.
How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
