Role Overview

In this critical leadership role, you will establish and lead Amgen’s Portugal-based AI Digital Product Enablement team as part of the AI&D Lab Product Management organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, AI&D Lab Product Management, you will build a high-performing team that serves as the operational and product bridge between US-based business stakeholders and global development teams, including India.

This role is designed to enable a follow-the-sun operating model. You and your team will translate business priorities into execution-ready product work, reduce ambiguity across regions, accelerate decision-making, and improve the quality and consistency of handoffs so product delivery can progress continuously across time zones.

The ideal candidate combines strong product leadership, technical fluency, operational rigor, and team-building experience. This leader must be equally effective with senior business stakeholders, product and engineering teams, and cross-functional partners for AI delivery excellence.

What you will do

Establish and lead the Portugal-based enablement team

Build, lead, and develop a Portugal-based team responsible for digital product ownership and cross-regional delivery enablement for AI initiatives.

Enable follow-the-sun product delivery

Serve as the leadership bridge between US business teams and global delivery teams, including India, to maintain momentum across time zones.

Ensure work is clearly translated, prioritized, and handed off so teams can execute with minimal delay.

Improve delivery continuity by reducing blockers, clarifying decisions, and ensuring work is ready for the next team to advance.

Lead product ownership for AI solutions

Provide product ownership for AI and digital solutions within Agile delivery models.

Own and oversee product backlogs, including prioritization, refinement, and readiness for engineering execution.

Ensure requirements, acceptance criteria, and dependencies are clearly defined to support high-quality delivery.

Translate business needs into technical execution

Articulate business requirements into product user stories and engineering requirements.

Convert business objectives into actionable product requirements and delivery plans.

Work closely with engineering, data science, and technical teams to align on scope, tradeoffs, and execution path.

Improve execution excellence and delivery velocity

Implement consistent product management and Agile practices across the team.

Track delivery performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve team throughput and handoff quality.

Introduce scalable mechanisms, tools, and operating rhythms that improve speed, transparency, and predictability.

Measure product and business outcomes

Define and monitor product metrics, adoption measures, delivery KPIs, and where applicable model-performance indicators.

Use data, stakeholder feedback, and operational insights to inform prioritization and continuous improvement.

Provide clear, decision-ready updates to leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

Strong presentation and public speaking skills with experience communicating to executives

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
