As a Senior D2P Solution Consultant, you will independently manage end-to-end business analysis

workstreams, tackling complex business problems with emerging ambiguity. You will

demonstrate a strong understanding of the business domain, related technologies, and their

interdependencies, applying advanced tools and techniques to translate requirements into

strategic implementation plans. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to

cross-functional teams, shaping stakeholder perspectives, handling process

interdependencies, and significantly contributing to the design and validation of effective

solutions. You will also mentor junior analysts and actively shape team processes,

methodologies, and best practices within the broader Community of Practice.

Description of the area

The Demand to Pay  (D2P) Value Stream is responsible for driving the end-to-end Procurement, Accounts Payable and Travel & Expense Management Data & AI strategies, by translating Functional strategies into measurable business outcomes. 

The role is part of ERP Source to Procure Team within ERP Demand to Pay(D2P) value stream.

As a Senior D2P Solution Consultant and subject matter expert of indirect & Direct procurement   focusing on the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) lifecycle, you will bridge the gap between complex procurement business requirements and technical IT solutions translating business needs into technical solutions. 

You will be responsible for optimizing the end-to-end process, from strategic sourcing and contract management to requisitioning, purchasing and  receiving, decomposition into Features/User Stories using SAFe, Jira, and ServiceNow. Leveraging your SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement or similar procurement platform expertise, you will ensure global system stability and drive innovative enhancements across the enterprise.

Your goal is to develop sustainable IT solutions to enhance operational efficiency, ensure data integrity, and drive the digital transformation of our procurement landscape.

Job Responsibilities

Process Optimization: Analyze, document, and redesign "as-is" and "to-be" business processes across the S2P lifecycle (Sourcing, Contracting, Supplier Management, Purchasing, and Invoicing).

Requirements Engineering: Lead discovery workshops with stakeholders to elicit high-quality business requirements. Translate these into functional specifications, user stories, and technical workflows.

Solution Design: Act as the functional/technical expert for S2P platforms (e.g., Smart by GEP, ORO, SAP S4HANA, GEP Nexxe and others). Oversee system configurations and enhancement requests.Write and review functional and technical specifications (incl. WRICEFs), perform testing and cut-over/ deployment activities.

Integration Management: Collaborate with technical teams to manage integrations between S2P tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA), ensuring seamless data flow for master data and financial records.Lead the design of complex WRICEFs, specifically focusing on Interfaces (I) using SAP Integration Suite (BTP/CPI), Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG), or Middleware (e.g MuleSoft).

Data Mapping & Transformation: Define and document detailed field-level mapping (IDOC, API, cXML, OData) for critical procurement objects such as Purchase Orders, Goods Receipts, Invoices, and Supplier Master Data.

Error Handling & Monitoring: Establish robust monitoring frameworks (using AIF - SAP Application Interface Framework or similar) to proactively identify, alert, and resolve interface failures before they impact business operations.

Stakeholder Collaboration: You work closely with partners such as Global Procurement and RSS, manage expectations in major programs like ASPIRE, and ensure seamless integration into the IT landscape.Collaborate with the program and business teams to ensure continuous business and IT alignment among different ARTs (Agile Release Trains) such as IT Architecture, Master Data, Procurement, Finance etc.

Testing & QA: Define test strategies and lead System Acceptance Test(SAT), System Integration Test(SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business needs and are defect-free.

Change Management: Enforce disciplined change management practices using SAP Solution Manager, JIRA  and ServiceNow  to ensure zero-impact deployments in a high-availability production environment.

Performance & Optimization: You define success metrics (KPIs), use data analytics to optimize user satisfaction, and are responsible for business cases and resource planning for your area.Optimize interface performance to handle high volumes of procurement transactions, ensuring minimal latency in PO transmissions and Invoice status updates.

Compliance & Quality: You ensure that all solutions are operated sustainably, in compliance with regulations (e.g., GxP, GDPR, ICFR), and securely.Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulations.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

Minimum 6-8  years of Business Analysis / Functional Consultancy experience in procurement platforms( SAP S/4HANA Sourcing & procurement(Indirect/Direct), Ariba, Coupa, GEP or related platforms), with at least 3+ years in life sciences/pharma or the assigned business function being supported.

Knowledge of business process areas: Demand intake, Source and Contract, Request to receipt, vendor and material master data.

Understanding of cross module dependencies ( SAP FI/CO, MM, PM,SD ) and MM master data

Techno-functional ability to translate business needs into SAP configuration and system improvements.

Work in an agile environment and often on multiple initiatives in parallel

Functional/Technical experience in both SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC is a must.

Demonstrated experience in translating requirements into strategic implementation plans that align with overall business objectives.

Technical Skills

Solid hands-on experience of Source-to-pay/Procure-to-Pay Tools (e.g Smart by GEP,SAP Ariba, Coupa, SAP S/4 HANA  or similar platforms is required.

Deep understanding of Source-to-pay/Procure-to-Pay processes and functionalities (e.g. Sourcing projects, RFx, Auctions, Contract-Lifecycle-Management, Procurement, Invoicing, Supplier Management).

Strong knowledge of integration patterns, architecture, design &  implementation, API-Led connectivity, Middleware (e.g Mulesoft) for connecting Sourcing, CLM and ERP Systems is a must. 

Experience designing and consuming REST/SOAP APIs, working with API gateways, and enabling secure data exchange across S2C (Source to Contract) ecosystems is a must.

Strong skills in handling data formats (JSON, XML, CSV, EDI Standards), data mapping, transformation, and ETL processes across sourcing and contract systems.

Understanding of integration points with SAP Fiori, SAP Ariba Integration SAP FI/CO, SAP Plant Maintenance, SAP SD (Third-party orders), SAP PP (MRP-driven procurement) including business partner(BP) concept in S/4HANA is a plus.

Expertise in managing Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), defining fitness functions, and establishing reference architectures and patterns.

Strong proficiency in requirements elicitation and documentation, ensuring comprehensive requirements traceability and consistent change management.

Ability to independently apply tools, principles, concepts, and techniques related to requirements, data, usability, and process analysis.

Proactive mindset to identify opportunities to enhance value and business processes, improve existing solutions, and manage technical debt.

Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining difficult or sensitive information and working to build consensus among diverse teams.
