Oncology at AstraZeneca

The AstraZeneca Oncology Medical Affairs team is entering a new phase in our exciting journey to deliver a better, longer life to every cancer patient in Canada. Our Oncology portfolio and clinical development program is rapidly growing and our research pipeline and current products are becoming larger and more complex, driven by breakthrough science and clinical trials that are engaging new customer groups.
Our Position – Therapeutic Area Lead, Oncology Medical Affairs, Genitourinary & Gynecologic Malignancies
Lead the medical-scientific strategy of the genitourinary and gynecologic malignancies therapeutic area, contributing to the clinical development of products, leading marketing shaping and pre-launch activities and managing head office and field teams, to achieve leadership objectives with a clear focus on patients.
Responsibilities:
Define, lead and implement comprehensive and innovative national and regional medical strategy, plans and budget for the genitourinary and gynecologic malignancies therapeutic area portfolio in alignment with global strategy
Provide disease area scientific expertise and medical excellence for various initiatives including assessing the product portfolio, competitor landscape, sponsored trials and regulatory or market access strategies
Analyze products in development or existing in the portfolio, identifying their potential for patients (new indications, etc.) and the advantages for the company
Build, coordinate and empower a medical oncology team to ensure the success of the therapeutic area portfolio, while building and creating a culture of development & change, as well as encouraging motivation and inclusive working atmosphere
Supervise Medical Advisors and MSLs Manager responsible for a national field team, ensuring integrated and coordinated activities
Lead team performance, managing and supporting team development
Manage therapeutic area specific alliances with other pharmaceutical companies
Member of EUCAN regional TA Leadership Network, collaborating closely with global colleagues on evidence generation, sponsored trials and new product introductions or indications
Define and implement the External Engagement plan to build high added-value relationships with external experts, scientific societies, institutions, cooperative groups and health decision makers of the therapeutic area
Project the image and values of AstraZeneca in internal and external interactions
Ensure alignment with national and AZ compliance and regulatory requirements for all medical activities
Qualifications:
Education: MD (preferably with oncology expertise), PhD or PharmD preferred
Clinical and scientific experience related to Genitourinary & Gynecologic Malignancies, Oncology or other related TAs (>5 years)
Proven cross functional experience and collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Market Access and Patient Advocacy
Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch Experience
Experience in cooperation with clinical research and regulatory (national and international)
Experience in externally sponsored research and cooperation with study groups, and institutions
Experience leading a team and developing others
