The Position
Help shape the launch of one of Boehringer Ingelheim’s most exciting pipeline assets.
As Team Lead Marketing Obesity, you will lead the marketing strategy and execution for Survodutide in Obesity in Germany, operating in a highly competitive, fast-growing market.
You will combine strategic leadership, launch excellence, and people management to deliver best-in-class performance and long-term growth.
Tasks & responsibilities
One of your key responsibilities will be to lead the local marketing strategy for Survodutide in Obesity, from late pre-launch through launch and early commercialization, aligned with the Global Brand Strategy
In regard to launch excellence, you will drive pre-marketing, launch planning, and execution, ensuring readiness across customers, channels, and internal stakeholders while adapting to evolving market and competitive dynamics
You will translate Brand and Customer Strategies into actionable marketing plans, including consumer activation, omnichannel engagement, and digital and telehealth initiatives
Moreover, you will lead and develop the Obesity Marketing Team, including (Senior) Brand Managers, and chair a cross-functional Brand Team to ensure effective execution and optimal use of resources
In addition, you will define and implement a clear customer segmentation and targeting strategy, initially focusing on priority segments and scaling impact across broader populations over time
Furthermore, you will foster a strong performance and leadership culture, promoting accountability, collaboration, and compliance across all marketing activities
Requirements
Advanced degree in Business, Medicine, Life Sciences or related field required; MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification strongly preferred
Long term experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Deep exposure to Obesity, Metabolic diseases, or closely adjacent therapeutic areas (e.g., diabetes, CVRM) with clear understanding of evolving treatment paradigms
Proven experience in the German affiliate environment, with strong understanding of local market dynamics, access constraints, and out-of-pocket business models
Demonstrated ownership of at least one major product launch or late-stage pre-launch in a highly competitive market environment
Outstanding strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate complex insights into clear, differentiated commercial strategies; experience in strategy consulting (Tier 1 consultancy) is a plus
Previous experience in customer-facing roles (e.g., Sales, KAM, Field Strategy) with a deep understanding of HCP and patient journeys advantageous
Proven leadership experience, including both direct team leadership and cross-functional leadership in complex matrix organizations
Native-level German and fluent English required
