About the Role:

BioNTech is driving a variety of digitalization projects, including SAP ERP, MES, and LIMS systems. As part of our growth activities, we are expanding our digital solutions with a global LIMS platform for the research and development (R&D) sector. Our goal is to roll out a global digital R&D ecosystem with diverse capabilities across our labs.

In this role, you will play a key part in developing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions that support the digitalization of our R&D labs. You will contribute to all phases of the software lifecycle – from identifying suitable solutions to implementation, operation, and maintenance – while collaborating closely with users and stakeholders. By ensuring efficient processes and compliance with governance standards, you will help deliver reliable and effective software solutions across BioNTech’s application landscape.

Your Contribution:

Apply your market knowledge for commonly used software within the (scientific) laboratory application portfolio (e.g., LIMS, ELN, automation & device software, data evaluation software)

Support the development of technical concepts that address business needs, ensuring alignment with established governance processes

Contribute to the implementation of solutions within scope, focusing on technical aspects under guidance from senior team members

Support the successful delivery of assigned projects by coordinating tasks and ensuring timely execution

Assist in the operation and lifecycle management of assigned applications, ensuring they remain functional and up-to-date

Help maintain and improve technical change management processes for applications within scope

Configure software solutions based on user requirements, ensuring accuracy and functionality

Work closely with stakeholders to ensure their satisfaction with the software landscape throughout all phases of the application lifecycle

A Good Match:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related field

3–5 years of proven experience in similar roles within industries such as pharma, Biotechnology,  bioinformatics, general IT or related technical process management

Strong technical skills with the ability to solve complex challenges effectively

Solid experience with scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell

Experience integrating systems within laboratory environments

Knowledge of and first hands-on experience with Data Engineering (e.g. using Databricks) is a plus

Expertise in cloud technologies (preferably AWS) and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions

Hands-on experience working in agile environments and methodologies

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams; fluency in English is required; German language skills are a plus
