Sr Manager, Global Scientific Communications & Engagement Strategy– Obesity Content Lead

The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications & Engagement Strategy for Obesity & Related Conditions, is accountable for developing and executing comprehensive, high-impact scientific communication and customer engagement strategies in alignment with product and therapeutic area objectives. This role collaborates across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial to ensure consistent, compliant, and compelling communication of scientific and clinical evidence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Oversight

Lead development and oversee implementation of global and US scientific communication and HCP engagement plans, in close partnership with product medical leads and field leaders

Adapt strategies based on disease landscape evolution, emerging data, channel innovation, and cross-functional insights

Partner with Medical Data & Analytics, product medical leads, and field leaders to define, implement, and track metrics to assess impact of content and channels.

Partner with Amgen India to translate the scientific communication and HCP engagement plan into global and US content

Scientific Content Development

Develop the strategic content brief, aligned to the scientific narrative, product scientific communication, and HCP engagement plan to guide content creation by Amgen India

Provide strategic review and oversee dissemination of scientific and medical materials (e.g., DSE, digital/interactive content, FAQs, MSL resources, payer-related materials, compendia updates).

Enable teams to maintain accuracy, evidence alignment, and compliance with internal and external standards

Medical Information and Education

Contribute to scientific programming at educational events and congresses, including booth and symposia content

Operational Excellence and Innovation

In partnership with Scientific Communications and Engagement Operations:

Provide input to and adopt ongoing process improvements and standardization, systems enhancements, and digital innovation

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure impact and efficiency

Assist in training of Amgen Scientific Communications staff in India and across geographies, as relevant

Leadership and Collaboration

Cultivate collaboration across Amgen India Scientific Communications and cross-functional partners and affiliates

Manage external vendors and agencies to ensure quality and compliance, and where required assist in transition of vendor activities to Amgen India

Provide mentorship, as needed

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience OR

Master’s degree and 6 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience OR

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Medical/Scientific Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, DO) with 4+ years in Medical/Scientific Affairs, Clinical Development, or related field

Proven experience in strategic content planning, content creation and vendor management in the biopharmaceutical industry, and/or clinical or research in the therapeutic area

Familiarity with regulatory and legal frameworks governing scientific communications and affecting promotion of prescription products

Strong analytical and communication skills

Experience in multi-channel scientific platforms and digital engagement capabilities at a pharma company or at a digital agency primarily or exclusively serving pharma companies

Artificial Intelligence literacy and digital fluency

Travel required (approximately 10–20%)

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
