Your Role:
Our Digital and eCommerce division is looking to transform the Digital and eCommerce technology engine for Company’s Life Science. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will play a key role leading and growing our Bangalore based development team as we evolve our platform, helping to embrace modern principles like microservices and distributed architecture.
The Digital and eCommerce team currently operates several B2B websites and direct digital sales channels via a globally deployed cloud-based platform that are a growth engine for life science business. We provide a comprehensive catalog of all products, enabling our customers to find products and purchase products as well as get detailed scientific information on those products.
Take end-to-end responsibility for the development of one or more eCommerce and Digital products, primarily around the e-commerce core order engine and its interfaces.
Build and grow our engineering team through mentoring, recruiting and guidance.
Partner with Product Owner(s) to develop a technical vision for our eCommerce products.
Develop a roadmap in partnership with the rest of the engineering leadership team to modernize our eCommerce and Digital platform.
Foster a Growth and Learning culture on the team, encouraging teams to embrace change and constantly strive for improvement.
Ensure the team produces high quality code by fostering effective testing and review processes and a quality mindset.
Help the team evolve and increase their throughput by adopting modern methodologies like frequent deployments and tirelessly removing obstacles to productivity.
Know what and how to measure the team to show how they are improving.
Who You are:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
8+ years of software engineering experience
1+ years of software engineering management experience leading and directly managing teams.
Ability to work with global teams and a flexible work schedule.
Experience influencing and communicating with non-technical decision makers as a technical thought leader.
Experience bringing conceptual, analytical, and “big picture” thinking to strategic problem solving.
Experience with at least one major programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java).
Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)
A deep technical understanding of Microservices, CI/CD, Event Oriented Architectures and Distributed Systems
Preferred Requirements:
10+ years of software engineering experience
Familiarity with DevOps practices/principles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and the product development lifecycle
Experience collaborating closely with Product Owners and contributing to product strategy.
Familiarity with modern web APIs and full stack frameworks.
Experience with AI assisted development methodologies and toolsets
Experience developing eCommerce systems – especially B2B eCommerce – is a plus.
