Indianapolis, Indiana, United States of America FULL_TIME
Senior Director

Lilly is the source of truth for this posting and owns the application process. We surface normalized context and market comparison you won't find on the original listing.

About this opportunity

At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work, but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

Position Overview

Lilly's web footprint spans dozens of brand sites, multiple business units, and reaches consumers and providers across the globe, and it's growing fast. This role is where you build the measurement engine underneath all of it, and lead the team that turns that engine into decisions that improve digital experiences.

You'll architect the platform capabilities that power data-driven decisions across every Lilly digital property globally, and lead a distributed team of Experience Leads who bring that data to life for individual brands. You'll also help define what web measurement looks like and drive innovation that surfaces key insights used by product leaders.

The scope is substantial: strategy and execution across US Commercial and International Business Units, a blended team of full-time ecolleagues and contractors, and a direct seat with senior leadership shaping how Lilly understands its digital audiences, at a moment when AI is genuinely changing what's possible in this space.

Your Team

Platform Insights & Capabilities specialists, owning CJA/GA4 architecture, tagging, and governance

Experience Leads, embedded with brand.com and IBU sites, turning platform data into brand-specific action

Voice-of-customer / survey specialists, run CX / DX measurement strategy and methodology

Key Objectives

Platform Insights & Capabilities

Set architecture and standards for CJA (Customer Journey Analytics) and GA4 across every Lilly digital property

Own CX /DX survey strategy and methodology, including a composite site experience score blending survey and behavioral data

Lead A/B testing and experimentation strategy for brand.com and IBU sites, including test design, statistical accuracy, and a prioritized roadmap

Enforce tagging taxonomy and instrumentation standards so data is credible across every property

Own governance for who can see, edit, and act on measurement data, building on the existing AEM access model

Experience Leadership

Lead the group embedded across brand.com, IBU sites, and other properties, turning platform output into brand-specific recommendations

Define what counts as insight at Lilly: not a dashboard, a recommendation with a number behind it

Run a blended FTE/contractor model held to one bar for quality and culture

Mentor teammates to lead, not just deliver: strengthen their measurement judgment, their command of the systems they own, and their ability to tell the insight story to brand leadership, whether their growth path runs through people management or deeper technical and influence leadership

Develop and run a repeatable up-skilling program for the full team, covering training curriculum, shared standards, and hands-on mentoring, so capability grows across the group, not just through individual mentorship

Transformation

Build the case and roadmap for treating measurement as a product, not a project

Partner with Product Managers on brand.com to embed measurement into planning cycles from day one

Advance Lilly's shift to a true product operating model, with PMs owning web experience outcomes

Separate AI signal from AI noise: identify where it genuinely compresses the distance between data and decision (automated insight generation, anomaly detection, natural-language querying of CJA/GA4), and hold a credible point of view on what's ready now versus what's hype

Establish Lilly's foundation for measuring visibility in Artificial Intelligence driven discovery (LLM referral traffic, answer-engine share of voice), a rigor with no existing standard to inherit

Present investment cases and progress to senior interested customers in clear, outcome-anchored language

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

10+ years in web/digital analytics, measurement, or insights, including people leadership

Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1

Preferences

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related)

Hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA), Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and Medallia or an equivalent VoC platform

Record building and developing teams, including blended FTE/contractor models

A tested, outspoken point of view on applied AI in measurement, grounded in what's shipping today, not what's trending

Deep knowledge of tagging architecture and data governance in a regulated, compliance-heavy environment (MLR, VVPM, or similar)

Ability to lead and coach a distributed team across the world

Proven ability to influence senior collaborators and cross-functional partners without direct authority

Confirmed record leading large, distributed teams through change

Builds a culture of progressing a growth stance, where people are developed, not just led

A builder's attitude: tests fast, learns, and treats organizational complexity as an opportunity rather than an obstacle

Executive presence: able to explain and stand behind numbers and tradeoffs to senior partners with clarity and confidence

Computed from every other active role in our database, not just this employer's listings.

We don't have enough classified peer data for this role yet, so there's no comparison to show. This happens when a posting's title/category doesn't match any taxonomy rule -- it's excluded rather than compared against the wrong peer group.
