Senior Director, Head of Global Logistics
About this opportunity
The role of the Head of Global Logistics is to p rovide enterprise leadership and accountability for the execution of Seqirus’ global logistics strategy, ensuring the secure, compliant, and cost‑effective flow of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and non‑commercial shipments across a highly regulated, seasonal global manufacturing network.
- The role owns the global logistics operating model, including transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory management, assurance of trade compliance, alignment with commercial priorities, manufacturing operations, Quality requirements, and CSL enterprise frameworks. Through leadership of global teams and strategic partners, the role delivers reliable service, regulatory compliance, cost optimisation, and network resilience.
Responsibilities
1. Global Logistics Strategy & Execution
Owns and executes a global logistics strategy aligned to Seqirus long‑term commercial forecasts, product launch plans, pandemic readiness requirements, and CSL enterprise supply chain strategy.
Translates business strategy into executable logistics operating plans that support seasonal vaccine supply, surge capacity, and government commitments.
Establishes logistics contingency and resilience strategies to manage geopolitical, regulatory, and operational disruption.
2. Global Operations, Trade Compliance & Governance
Provides enterprise accountability for logistics and customs compliance operations across the Seqirus network.
Establishes and governs global policies, procedures, and standards covering transportation, warehousing, cold chain execution, inventory control, and import/export compliance.
Ensures full compliance with GDP, cGMP, tax, customs, and trade regulations across all shipment types, including commercial and non‑commercial flows.
Owns global logistics performance management, including service levels, cost, compliance, risk escalation, and corrective actions.
Acts as the accountable business owner for logistics‑related audits, certifications, and regulatory interactions.
3. External Partner & Vendor Leadership
Owns strategic relationships with global logistics providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and specialist service providers.
Leads vendor selection, contracting, and performance governance in line with procurement and CSL governance standards.
Ensures external partners consistently deliver against safety, quality, service, cost, and resilience expectations.
4. Enterprise Integration & Stakeholder Management
Partners closely with Commercial, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Tax, Legal, Procurement, and CSL enterprise functions to ensure logistics strategies and activities are fully integrated with business objectives.
Communicates logistics constraints, risks, and trade‑offs to senior leaders to enable informed enterprise decision‑making.
Represents Seqirus logistics interests with relevant government bodies, industry groups, and enterprise forums as required.
5. People, Capability & Systems
Leads and develops a global logistics leadership team, including workforce planning, capability development, performance management, and succession planning.
Builds organisational capability through clear operating standards, training, and leadership to ensure consistent execution across sites and regions.
Acts as business process owner for global logistics systems (e.g. SAP), ensuring data integrity, system effectiveness, and alignment with CSL enterprise standards.
Sponsors continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen logistics reliability, efficiency, and cost performance.
Education Requirements
Bachelor degree in business, science or related discipline
12 years of experience in supply chain logistics including supervising technical specialists
Post Graduate business qualification preferred.
Member of Institute of Export and Trade (ideal, not essential).
Experience Requirements
Significant experience in a logistics and/or bulk distribution environment; to include 3PLs, freight, warehousing and distribution activities.
Practical experience in using SAP in operations. Including interfacing with 3PLs. Cold chain experience, preferably in a healthcare / regulated environment.
Deep understanding of Customs and Trade Compliance in a global context.
Track record in delivering on commitments through other people and other organisations.
This role requires hybrid working in the office, 3 days per week.
