We are searching for the best talent for SENIOR CUSTOMS TECHNICIAN (Fixed Term 12 months).
Purpose: To perform a variety of administrative duties related to the temporary import of materials and the export of finished products.
You will be responsible for:
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Processes Import/Export documents in compliance with Mexican and US Customs requirements.
Coordinates local traffic.
Prepares Customs reports as required.
Files all customs related documents.
Comply and adhere to Internal Customs Department Procedures.
Participate and promote activities to improve internal controls and requirements related to International business operations of the Company.
Follows all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the work area. Ensures compliance with Environmental Management System (EMS) responsibilities. Is his/her responsibility to comply with Company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal regulations of the countries related to customs activity.
Follow J&J and EES Records Management Policies for Convenience Information, Records Retention Schedules, Training and Education, Document Hold Notices, Records Cleanout, Inactive Records and Information Management, Vital Records and third-party vendor if applicable.

Release import/export inspection from Mexican Customs, when required.
Researches information pertinent to machinery, equipment and tools such as brands, models, serial numbers, etc., to comply with Customs requirements.
Control and follow up documents to support the merchandise origin, Certificate of origin and/or Affidavit letters/Analyze all the BOM’s to determine the NAFTA classification for finished product and update the Customs database. - Process MX import permits for the different authorities.
May provide support to release FDA inspections.
Pediment closing/processing.
Supports procurement of department supplies and resources (including vehicles).
May participate on Internal Customs yearly forecast as well as financial analysis and reports related to budget.
Loads and updates merchandise/articles part number at Customs System related to daily activities.
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications / Requirements:
EDUCATION: A Minimum of High School Diploma is required. Customs Technical Education or equivalent (Preferred). Lean Certification
(Preferred).
JOB EXPERIENCE: 4 – 6 years of experience or equivalent knowledge and skills, necessary to satisfactory perform the position responsibilities. Or 50% College near completion (International Trades, Customs administration, Law, economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or Commercial Relations) Desirable.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS *
Bilingual: English/ Spanish
GMP/ ISO knowledge.
Knowledge of Customs Practices in a manufacturing environment and IMMEX.
Working knowledge to formulate and process Pediments.
Customer service orientation
Clear and concise verbal communication.
Proactive.
Judgment and decision-making skills
Sense of urgency
Team work and collaboration
Accuracy and thoroughness
Microsoft Office proficiency in order to navigate, modify and maintain spread sheets, create memos and update data.
