Project Engineer
Location: Wrexham (Hybrid Working)
Function: Capital Projects
Reporting to: Senior Principal Process Engineer
About the Role
The Ipsen Wrexham site is undergoing a transformation: with significant small, medium, and large scale capital projects opportunities now, and into the future. We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our growing Capital Projects team in Wrexham. In this role, you will support the delivery of capital investment projects across the site, managing engineering projects and work packages from concept through to completion.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors and equipment suppliers to deliver projects safely, compliantly and efficiently, ensuring objectives relating to quality, cost and schedule are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Lead and manage engineering projects and work packages throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and progress reports.
Monitor project performance against agreed objectives and milestones.
Support project governance processes, including reporting risks, issues and opportunities.
Contribute to business cases, project scopes and capital expenditure proposals.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
Provide technical input and engineering expertise during project development and execution.
Evaluate engineering solutions and conduct technical feasibility assessments.
Participate in design reviews from concept through detailed design stages.
Prepare and review engineering documentation, including user requirement specifications and technical specifications.
Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with GMP, quality and site compliance requirements.
Support quality risk assessments and change control activities.
Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to risk assessments and hazard reviews.
Ensure contractors and suppliers operate in line with site safety and environmental expectations.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, quality, validation and EHS teams.
Manage relationships with engineering service providers, contractors and equipment suppliers.
Support equipment testing activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Coordinate commissioning, qualification and handover activities.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working.
Support problem-solving and root cause investigations.
Contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We're interested in candidates who can demonstrate a combination of technical engineering knowledge and project management capability.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience supporting or delivering engineering projects in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Understanding of project management principles including scope, cost, quality and schedule management.
Knowledge of engineering design and project execution processes.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively across multiple teams.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, chemical manufacturing or other highly regulated industries.
Membership of, or progress towards membership of, a recognised engineering institution such as IChemE, IMechE or equivalent.
Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments.

Additional Information
Hybrid working arrangements are available in line with company policy.
