About the Team

As part of the Category Management team within External Manufacturing Services, our global group works to proactively identify opportunities, engage with key business stakeholders, and collaborate with regional Procurement functions. We are dedicated to driving category performance, advancing innovation, and managing supplier networks effectively to deliver significant business value and high-value savings targets across the organization.

Role Introduction

The Procurement Manager in External Manufacturing Services is accountable for developing procurement strategies and leading initiatives for the assigned Category on a global basis. In this role, you will apply deep subject matter knowledge in Roche’s category and supplier relationship management (SRM) approaches, taking ownership of category strategies, high-value sourcing, demand management, and supplier performance while serving as a key point of contact for business stakeholders.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive strategic impact and manage end-to-end category performance through the following key responsibilities:

Define the DP & Finished Good Strategy and annual initiative pipeline by collating market, supplier, category, and internal data, while partnering with functions such as local and regional Procurement to gather input, endorsement, and validation.

Identify, manage, and execute strategic category initiatives to achieve top-down targets, executing projects in compliance with policies, guidelines, operating procedures, and 3rd Party Spend Policy directives while escalating issues and utilizing continuous improvement approaches like LPS and DPP’s portfolio planning (Cost Optimization Initiative).

Develop and maintain clear, executable category buying guides and content to translate category strategies and initiative outcomes into practical guidance for Procurement colleagues and business users.

Deliver Procurement Balanced Scorecard (BSC) inputs, manage accurate reporting of measures, metrics, and savings targets (liaising with operational sourcing hubs, Shared Service Centers, and the Business), and ensure spend data accuracy through data validation and governance remediation.

Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) and continuous improvement by identifying key suppliers, establishing and reporting value creation targets, mitigating risks, conducting regular business reviews, leading supplier innovation/development, and conducting thorough risk and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reviews.

Build and maintain strong business partner relationships across Procurement, Finance, external manufacturing operation and quality, demand planning, global supply chain owners, Technical Product Leaders, and Legal to challenge demand, ensure contract compliance, and offer Procurement solutions for business priorities.

Support process and technology harmonization across global category teams, coach Procurement staff and project-related resources to foster professional development, and represent the Global Category Leader (GCL) in planning, stakeholder, people, and project management activities as needed.

Who You Are

To be successful in this position, you should bring the following qualifications, skills, and expertise:

Deep category and sub-category subject matter knowledge with proven expertise in Pharmaceutical Industry Category and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) approaches, sourcing, demand management, and process re-engineering. In particular you bring procurement experience in the area of external manufacturing of drug products.

Strong leadership, strategic agility, communication, and influencing skills to align stakeholders, build trusted relationships across global functions, and drive implementation support.

Demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted supplier relationships, risk and CSR assessments, complex contract compliance, and continuous improvement frameworks.

Proven track record in gathering complex market/business data to construct category strategies, pipeline initiatives, and accurate performance metrics reporting.

Experience in coaching, developing, and providing feedback for project-related resources and Procurement staff while driving efficiency and technology adoption across global teams.
