The Opportunity

We are looking for a Medical Advisor Lung Cancer to join a dynamic team, dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Internally, you will play a key role in the development and execution of the medical strategy for our lung cancer portfolio, in close cross-functional collaboration. Externally, you will actively engage with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to drive forward impactful medical projects.

You will work at the intersection of science, strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and project management. This role requires the ability to translate complex science into meaningful medical initiatives that support patient care and that move forward our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Insight Generation

Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with a targeted group of Key External Experts (KEEs) and healthcare professionals

Deliver high-quality, balanced, and non-promotional scientific exchange aligned with therapeutic area strategy

Stay at the forefront of clinical and scientific advancements through literature review, congress attendance, and expert engagement

Explore patient pathways, treatment practices, and unmet medical needs through scientific dialogue

Capture actionable insights and feed them back into brand and medical strategy

Respond to unsolicited medical information requests regarding AstraZeneca products

Strategic Collaboration & Cross-Functional Impact

Act as a core member of cross-functional brand teams (Medical, Marketing, Sales, Market Access)

Provide robust scientific input into brand planning, campaigns, and strategic initiatives

Contribute to the development and optimisation of local operational brand strategies

Deliver medical training and upskilling to the commercial organisation

Review and approve promotional materials to ensure compliance and scientific integrity

Support clinical operations, including site selection activities

Medical Projects & Evidence Generation

Lead the design and execution of strategic medical affairs projects aligned to brand plans

Manage project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics (KPIs)

Drive real-world evidence generation (e.g. observational studies, data collection initiatives)

Organise and lead advisory boards, expert meetings, and scientific events

Collaborate with KEEs to co-create impactful initiatives and evidence-building activities

External Partnerships & Scientific Leadership

Build and sustain long-term, trusted relationships with KEEs and key stakeholders

Identify, develop, and manage advocacy networks

Lead externally sponsored research activities and support scientific collaborations

Manage grants, sponsorships, and partnerships in line with compliance requirements

Compliance & Governance

Ensure all activities are conducted in line with AstraZeneca policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

Complete all required training and uphold the AstraZeneca Code of Conduct

Maintain the highest standards of medical integrity and ethical behaviour

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience & Qualifications

Medical Doctor, Pharmacist, or scientific degree (PhD preferred)

Experience within a Medical Affairs role in the pharmaceutical industry

Proven experience analysing, interpreting, and communicating complex scientific data

Strong ability to build credibility and relationships with external experts

Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills

High level of integrity with strong ethical judgement

Ability to quickly develop deep expertise in a therapeutic area

Fluency in French, Dutch, and English

Flexibility for field-based work, travel, and occasional evening meetings

Desirable Experience

Knowledge of pharmaceutical medical, regulatory, and marketing processes

Experience engaging and moderating discussions with healthcare professionals

Exposure to multiple therapeutic areas
