Job Title: Utility Operator (Chemical Industry)
Department: Operations / Engineering
Reports To: Shift/Unit Supervisor – Utilities
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor plant utility systems (cooling towers, compressed air, DI water/wastewater, HVAC, Chillers, thermic oil heaters, N2 generator, as applicable) per SOPs.
Respond to alarms, record data in logbooks/SCADA, and take corrective actions to maintain safe, stable operations.
Execute start-up, normal running, and shutdown sequences with LOTO compliance.
Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate with Maintenance for specialized/breakdown tasks.
Promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental performance.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment (6S).
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (ISO 9001/14001/45001, local regulations).
Prepare shift handovers, incident reports, and participate in investigations as required.
Support commissioning/qualification for new or modified utilities systems.
Who You Are
You are a Diploma holder in Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation, Mechanical, or equivalent (5+ years’ experience in a chemical/processing plant).
You have hands-on experience with utility systems in a medium-to-large plant.
You can read P&IDs, process diagrams, instrument drawings, and have basic control system knowledge (SCADA/DCS/PLC basics).
You understand energy management, water treatment, effluent handling, and waste minimization concepts.
You are familiar with LOTO, safety regulations, and basic process safety practices.
You communicate effectively, work well in teams, and can operate across shifts.

Basic Qualifications
Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation, Mechanical, or equivalent.
5+ years’ experience in a chemical/processing environment.
Proficiency with SOPs, logbooks, and basic data recording.
Familiarity with safety systems and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
PSSR/HAZOP training or related certification.
Experience with CMMS, TPM, RCA, energy projects.
Knowledge of energy, water, and waste optimization initiatives.
Exposure to automation and data logging/reporting tools.
