Manufacturing Procurement Lead

What you will do

In this vital role, you will lead procurement operations at one of Amgen’s world-class manufacturing sites. Acting as the key business partner between site leadership (Manufacturing, Facilities & Engineering, Supply Chain) and the global sourcing organization, you will ensure procurement strategies meet both local needs and global objectives.

You will serve as the primary liaison between the site and Global Sourcing, driving strategic procurement initiatives, supplier partnerships, and value creation across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Drive continuous improvement Procurement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, and implementing changes to enhance manufacturing performance, speed, and delivery.

Champion a multi-year pipeline of savings and value plans across the manufacturing site that alignment with category and business strategies delivered against Finance’s annual budget plan

Be a trusted advisor across the Site Leadership Executive teams – ability to grow and maintain influence of Sourcing Agenda and delivered through strategic business partnership

Partner with a wide range of stakeholders, Manufacturing, Facilities & Engineering, Supply Chain, and beyond.

Be a Procurement leader with strong financial competence, experienced with accountability to site Executives and cross-functional leaders

Lead with a commitment to continuous improvement in sourcing processes, tools and operating model; Develop goals and prioritize impact to site work among multiple initiatives; Courage to provide performance feedback across the category and sourcing teams

Connect the dots and translate central functional programs into site-based deliverables and outcomes

Champion supplier relationship management for critical suppliers at the site level

Identify and mitigate supply risk while ensuring Procurement deliverables adhere to regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO) and implement quality control systems, including audits, inspections, and compliance-related activities.

Monitor and report on Procurement performance metrics, making necessary adjustments to meet organizational goals and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Evaluate and implement, through Procurement, process improvement, environmental sustainability, and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support long-term goals.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices, sharing innovative procurement solutions within the global manufacturing operations network.

Lead sourcing for capital projects from strategy through execution, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting.

What we expect of you

Doctorate degree with 2 years of directly related experience; or

Master's degree with 6 years of directly related experience; or

Bachelor's degree with 8 years of directly related experience.

Experience managing direct and/or indirect manufacturing spend categories.

Experience working in an international and cross-cultural environment.

Strong understanding of market dynamics and factors influencing business decisions, including supplier ecosystems, regulatory requirements, and competitive advantages.

Solid knowledge of sourcing and procurement processes, including tendering, supplier negotiations, and contract management across multiple spend categories.

Ability to conduct benchmarking and market analyses to drive cost, quality, risk, and innovation outcomes.

Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to independently develop and implement practical solutions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including stakeholder engagement, presentations, and virtual team collaboration.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring high-quality deliverables and service standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations, synthesize information from multiple sources, and present meaningful insights.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Sound knowledge of sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management.

Ability to analyse, summarize, and tailor insights effectively for different audiences.

Proven ability to develop business cases and drive opportunities with measurable financial benefits.

Demonstrated track record of identifying root causes, resolving issues proactively, and driving continuous improvement.

Change management experience, particularly in large and complex organizational transformations, with proven project management expertise.

Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.

Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving positive change.
