Job Objectives

Work with senior manager lead of alliance management to become liaison and key point of contact with our partners to manage relationships, maximize contract values, and ensure all governance, rights, and obligations of each partner are adequately fulfilled

They work closely with senior leadership to identify opportunities for growth and improvement and oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Alliance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of collaborations, fostering strong relationships, and maximizing the value from strategic partnerships. This position requires a blend of scientific, business, and project management expertise to drive and maintain successful partnerships with & external stakeholders. Internal cross function alignment with local & global leadership are required to maximize partnership value.

Strategic Alliance Management:

Lead the management of alliances with key external partners in accordance with Amgen’s strategic objectives.

Coordinate to establish and nurture long-term relationships with senior leaders and decision-makers between both parties.

Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day alliance activities and ensure alignment with Amgen’s business goals.

Manage and oversee the implementation of partnership agreements, including milestones, timelines, and deliverables.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with internal teams (R&D, Medical, Commercial, Value Access, Legal, Finance, etc.) to ensure that the needs of the alliance are met and that all stakeholders are informed.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify & resolve challenges and ensure alignment on partnership objectives and key metrics.

Coordinate to establish and nurture long-term relationships including senior leaders and decision-makers between both parties.

Set clear understanding between local, region, & global for the ownership of each partnership

Project Management and Execution:

Lead project teams to ensure the timely execution of collaboration agreements such as budget alignment & execution of collaboration plan to meet financial targets

Lead project teams for smooth MAH transfer for applicable product

Track and report on the progress of alliance projects, ensuring that all milestones are achieved according to plan.

Identify and mitigate potential risks and obstacles to the successful execution of the partnership.

Alliance Governance and Reporting:

Develop and maintain alliance governance structures to ensure that key decisions are made efficiently and that issues are escalated and resolved promptly.

Prepare and deliver regular reports and presentations to Amgen leadership on the status of the alliances, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities.

Performance Monitoring and Value Creation:

Collaborate with finance & supply to provide sales forecast of partnership which should be managed by Japan alliance team

Monitor the performance of the alliance and ensure that both Amgen and partner organizations are achieving the agreed-upon objectives.

Contract and Legal Oversight:

Collaborate with Japan & Global legal team to ensure that all contracts, licensing agreements, and terms are aligned with Amgen’s business and compliance requirements.

Support negotiation of terms and conditions to safeguard Amgen’s interests in partnership agreements.

Knowledge on R&D/regulation/pricing of pharmaceutical products

Financial and business acumen

Business level of English and Japanese communication

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master of Pharmaceutical science/MBA a plus)

Over 10 years’ Japanese pharma industry.
