Our factories run 24/7 operations. Our maintenance team currently works 10-hour shifts (either Days or Nights)

Shift Details: Alternating schedule, Monday–Thursday one week; Tuesday–Friday the following week

Hours: 10-hour Shifts on Nights (15% shift differential for evening work)

Note: Shift and schedule will eventually adjust to a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will provide customer-oriented maintenance support in a fast-paced biopharma manufacturing environment at Biogen’s RTP site. You will support maintenance activities for process equipment and utilities, ensuring reliability, uptime, and compliance with safety, quality, and cGMP standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive maintenance strategies that support manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Reliability teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues

Perform and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance on process equipment and utilities

Provide technical direction and guidance to maintenance technicians and junior team members

Support reliability programs, including spare parts strategy and equipment lifecycle management

Act as SME for maintenance in capital projects, ensuring maintainability and spare parts readiness

Manage vendors and contractors, including onboarding, training, and performance oversight

Review, approve, and close work orders within the CMMS system; partner with planners on scheduling priorities

Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, logs, and GMP-compliant records

Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls; ensure timely closure in TrackWise

Track and monitor maintenance compliance metrics including work order performance, safety, and GMP adherence

Follow Standard Operating Procedures and maintain a strong safety and quality culture

Required Skills

High School Diploma or equivalent required

At minimum, 1 years of maintenance experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environments

Demonstrated experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting manufacturing process equipment/utilities

Working knowledge of mechanical systems, and familiarity with electrical and control systems

Experience using CMMS systems for work order management and maintenance tracking

Ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed

Ability to stand for extended periods of time and work in cleanroom environments requiring gowning

Preferred Skills

Skilled trades, vocational training, or apprenticeship experience

Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and asset lifecycle planning

Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices

Experience using hand and power tools to perform maintenance activities

The base compensation range for this role is: -

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
