Job Summary
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the Maintenance, Machine Shop, and Asset Management teams in support of safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.
This role is responsible for driving preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, overseeing machining and fabrication capabilities, managing asset lifecycle and spare parts, and partnering with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain to maximize equipment availability, performance, and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop direct reports across Maintenance, Machine Shop, and Asset Management functions
Develop and execute maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance, aligned with business goals
Oversee machine shop operations, including machining, fabrication, welding, and repair services to support production and capital projects
Manage the asset management program, including asset register, lifecycle planning, spare parts optimization, CMMS data integrity, and asset health monitoring
Establish and monitor key performance indicators, including equipment availability, MTTR, MTBF, OEE, maintenance cost per asset, preventive maintenance compliance, spare parts turnover, stockouts, and safety performance
Plan and manage maintenance budgets, labor allocation, spare parts inventory, and maintenance-related capital expenditures
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Coordinate major breakdown responses, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain to support new equipment introductions, process changes, and capital projects
Select, manage, and evaluate external vendors and contractors to ensure quality, safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness
Maintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS and produce timely reports for leadership
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field is required; equivalent technical degree with substantial experience may be considered
Required Experience & Skills
A minimum of 6 years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is required
A minimum of 3 years of people management experience leading multi-disciplinary maintenance teams is required
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine tool maintenance is required
Hands-on understanding of machine shop operations, including CNC, lathes, mills, fabrication, and welding is required
Experience implementing and managing CMMS systems, such as SAP PM, Maximo, Infor, or similar platforms is required
Experience applying asset management best practices, including asset lifecycle planning, spare parts optimization, and data integrity is required
Demonstrated experience with reliability programs, including RCM, TPM, and structured root-cause analysis is required
Proven ability to manage budgets, labor allocation, maintenance spend, and capital projects is required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders are required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in regulated industries, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or food and beverage manufacturing, is preferred
Familiarity with GMP, ISO, or other regulated manufacturing requirements is preferred
Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives that measurably improved equipment reliability or reduced maintenance costs is preferred
Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is preferred
Work Environment & Travel
This position is 100% onsite in a manufacturing/production environment
Up to approximately 10% domestic and international travel may be required
