MSL-Immunology (Tremfya/Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is responsible for building scientific relationships with medical KOLs and understanding unmet medical needs in the assigned therapeutic area, serving as a field-based medical communication channel for Medical Affairs, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Korea. The individual in this position will contribute to developing and maintaining a medical strategy plan aligned with the cross-functional therapeutic area and company strategy through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This position is also responsible for conducting all activities in accordance with current regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines.

1. External Customer Engagement & Partnership based on strategic agility as a medical representative of Medical Affairs, J&J Innovative Medicine

1) Develop and maintain external relationships with key Individuals (KIs) to identify scientific needs and stay abreast of current scientific trends:

Conduct balanced communication with KIs to understand their perspectives through various interaction channels, including individual or group discussions, presentations, and remote communications.

Provide clinical support to KIs and physicians on the clinical application of Janssen Korea’s established and pipeline products.

Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information and as needed, discuss disease state concepts and in-depth medical topics, ensuring medical accuracy and compliance with local procedures, ethical guidelines and legal directives.

Develop individual plans and objectives aligned with Medical Affairs Strategy and approved by the manager, including a core list of KIs for regular interactions, with mechanisms in place for tracking and evaluating progress against the plan using the iMedical CRM.

2) Demonstrate the ability to calculate the impact of actions or words and employ a tailored approach:

Integrate scientific data into real-life practice to meet customer needs, adapting interpersonal styles to various situations and individuals.

Anticipate the responses of different individuals and teams based on their vantage point and perspectives.

Generate and share meaningful medical insights during interactions with KIs.

Execute plans regarding proactive and reactive outreach as approved through the legal/HCC exceptions process.

3) Plan and execute external medical activities:

Exhibit a strategic approach to identifying educational gaps and opportunities.

Represent and support scientific meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings.

Interpret findings and report them with recommendations for action to relevant internal partners.

2. Research Liaison with broad product and Therapeutic Area knowledge

Leverage knowledge of standards of care, Janssen company-sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, the competitive landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.

Address and manage Investigator-initiated studies upon external requests.

Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and act as liaison to Clinical research team (i.e.. GCO and MADU).

Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings as appropriate, including site initiation visits and investigator meetings upon request.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration and Teaming

Collect and provide meaningful medical insights back to the medical and cross-functional organizations to support strategy development.

Support initial and ongoing medical/scientific area and product-specific training and provide key scientific updates to internal stakeholders, as necessary and appropriate (e.g. Commercial, Medical Affairs, GCO/MADU etc.).

Qualifications:

Education:

Relevant science background (e.g., medicine, pharmacy, life science, etc.)

An advanced degree in Master of Science and above (PhD, MD, or PharmD) is preferred

Experience and Skills:

At least 3 years’ experience in professionals working environment in the pharmaceutical or related industries is required.

Understanding of local regulatory policy and industry’s code of practice related to drug registration, pharmaceutical promotion and clinical study.

Knowledge of scientific and therapeutic principles, with strengths in research and interpretation of scientific publications.

Expertise in research methodologies, clinical trial design, and related processes.

Excellent English language skills, spoken and written.

Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a broad range of external and internal personnel.

Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Awareness of, and adherence to, Johnson & Johnson Credo values and International Health Care Business Integrity Guide.

Domestic and international travel is required.
