Position Overview
As Viatris continues expanding its portfolio of innovative and value-added medicines, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Market Access to lead our Market Access efforts across Australia and New Zealand. This role plays a critical part in shaping and executing strategies for pricing, reimbursement, and market access across the product lifecycle, from early development through launch and post-launch optimization.
The Head of Market Access will lead cross-functional coordination, engage with key national stakeholders (including PBAC, MSAC, PHARMAC, payers, and policy influencers), and ensure that the value of Viatris' medicines is clearly communicated and supported with robust evidence. The role reports to both the Country Manager ANZ and with European and Global Market Access leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and lead integrated Market Access strategies for Australia and New Zealand across all therapeutic areas, with a focus on innovative and value-added medicines.
Oversee and guide submissions to PBAC, MSAC, PHARMAC, and other pricing and reimbursement bodies, ensuring strategic alignment and compliance.
Oversee price governance, shape pricing corridors, reimbursement conditions, and value frameworks in alignment with global and regional objectives.
Closely monitor and analyze competitor reimbursement activities to ensure Viatris remains competitively positioned, while upholding to both internal and external compliance with pricing regulations.
Monitor and analyze market trends, policy changes and competitive landscape to inform access strategy development for Vitaris’ innovative assets.
Provide strategic insights into payer value creation, reimbursement evidence needs and innovative contracting agreements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial, Policy, Health Economics, and Global Pricing teams to ensure access readiness and evidence generation plans.
Serve as the lead Market Access representative on local launch teams and product-specific initiatives.
Adapt and localize global value dossiers, economic models, and HEOR materials to Australian and New Zealand requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and maintain strong relationships with HTA bodies (PBAC/MSAC), PHARMAC, private insurers, government agencies, and healthcare system influencers.
Actively contribute to shaping the external environment through engagement with policy stakeholders and industry associations.
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, health economics, public health, or related field.
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in Market Access and Health Economics in Australia and/or New Zealand, including direct experience with PBAC/MSAC and PHARMAC submissions.
Strong understanding of HEOR principles and their application in local reimbursement contexts.
Support capability building in access, pricing, and health economics across the affiliate and wider APAC region if applicable.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing Market Access strategies for innovative medicines.
In-depth knowledge of local healthcare systems, reimbursement frameworks, and evolving policy trends.
