Your Role:

The Environmental, Health and Safety Technician (EHS Technician) is responsible for conducting inspections to ensure that all equipment and processes meet business and regulatory requirements. This position is dedicated support for three Madison-area locations and one location in Verona.  Job responsibilities include:

Collect, transfer, package, and ship chemicals and hazardous materials in compliance with regulations; manage packing area and maintain inventory. This may require operating a pallet mover, drum dolly, or other similar equipment.

Train colleagues on departmental processes (hot work, line breaks), conduct incident investigations, ergonomic assessments, and site metric reporting.

Maintain a positive, respectful workplace and exemplify MilliporeSigma values and high-impact culture tenets.

Assist in the implementation of programs to reduce risk to employees, contractors, and the environment. Coordinate and participate in emergency planning drills, such as spill team drills, first aid team training and evacuation or severe weather drills.

Monitor EHS materials at designated locations (PPE, ergonomics, air quality, fire safety, waste disposal) and ensure PPE compliance.

Understand, apply, and document federal/state regulations; identify problems and implement remedies; authority to label and sign DOT hazmat certifications.

Manage hazardous waste storage and waste streams; operate related equipment (e.g., forklift) and support periodic site inspections and audits.

Support EHS programs and regulatory reporting (air, storm water, wastewater, hazardous waste, TRI, Tier II); maintain calibration of EHS equipment and emergency preparedness actions.

Physical Attributes:

Work with highly potent / hazardous materials

Walk and climb steps routinely

Work in ambient temperature and humid environments

Lift up to 50 pounds

Move full 55-gal drums with a manual drum dolly

Don/doff and wear PPE including emergency response equipment

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office and Outlook tools, Electronic Document Management Systems, etc.)

Effective oral and written communication skills

Mechanical and technical aptitude

Strong mathematical skills

Possess a high degree of internal motivation

Capable of multi-tasking while paying close attention to detail

Basic chemistry knowledge from work experience

Pay Range for this position: $26.00-$40.00 per hour.

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
