Job Summary:
The Director, MONARCH Software will lead their team across Monarch product initiatives. This individual will lead the design, implementation, and documentation to help build a scalable robotic surgery business impacting millions of patients and expanding the capabilities of physicians globally.

Johnson & Johnson Robotics was established in 2020 with the integration of Auris Health, Verb Surgical, C-SATS, and Ethicon. It comprises three key med-tech platforms: Flexible Robotics (MONARCH®), Surgical Robotics (OTTAVA™) and Digital Solutions. Responsibilities
Lead, motivate, coach, and mentor a team of high-performing engineers and managers
Establish team initiatives to achieve program goals and improve functional and technical excellence in areas including device software development related to graphical user interfaces, robotics and controls, firmware, and cybersecurity
Demonstrate technical leadership across device software development, ensuring the high availability, reliability and robustness of MONARCH software
Effectively influence R&D and cross-functional executives and shape business direction by challenging norms, driving change, and engaging with appropriate stakeholders
Define, execute, and communicate the strategic vision for the mid- to long-term direction and technical roadmap of the team
Maintain and drive functional alignment within R&D leadership by translating complex business/technical topics into clear decisions and actions for internal and partner organizations (Quality, Regulatory, Commercial) and external stakeholders (inclusive of customers)
Lead and own outcomes for the SW R&D efforts (i.e., budget management, define priorities, resource allocation, delivery timelines, drive approvals and communications) for pre- and post-market needs of medical devices
Ensure high-quality software and documentation is delivered in support of the MONARCH systems, enabling high customer satisfaction
Experience and key competencies
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience is required
10+ years professional experience in software development is required
5+ years experience with hands-on technical leadership and people management is required
Demonstrated ability to deliver results on time within constraints by creatively adapting processes and using resources is required
Experience with medical devices from concept to delivery is required
Experience with documentation for medical device and non-medical device software is required
Proficiency in software development for medical devices and IEC 62304 is required
Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and partners is required
Previous experience successfully launching medical device products is preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, develop, manage and coach associates (including manager level talent) to strengthen organizational capabilities is highly preferred
Ability to travel up to 10%, international and domestic, is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$189,000.00 - $325,450.00
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
