Director, Marketing AI Capabilities

What you will do

The Director of Marketing AI Capabilities, within the Global Customer Capabilities & Innovation organization (GCCI), will be responsible for leading the development and scaling of AI-enabled marketing capabilities, operating models, and ways of working across Amgen. The Director will serve as a strategic connector between emerging external trends and internal enterprise transformation, translating advances in AI technologies, evolving customer expectations, new ecosystem partnerships, and changing marketing practices into scalable capabilities that drive meaningful business impact.

Responsibilities include:

External Landscape & Strategic Foresight

Monitor and assess the evolving AI, digital marketing, data, and customer engagement landscape, including emerging technologies, platforms, partners, and competitive trends

Identify disruptive shifts in customer behaviors, content consumption, channel dynamics, and personalization expectations

Translate external market developments into actionable marketing capability strategies

Future of Marketing Design, Development and Implementation

Work across functions to lead the execution of the Future of Marketing strategy, including the development and implementation of new technology, operating models, and innovative external partnerships

Lead the design and development of critical technology initiatives, including the Marketing Command Center, and play an advisory role to enabling Neural Nexis initiatives

Design future-state marketing operating models, workflows, governance structures, and processes that embed AI into day-to-day execution

Ensure talent initiatives align with the future marketer vision and AI-enabled capabilities

External Enterprise Partnerships & Innovation Pilot Management

Manage existing strategic enterprise partnerships and evaluate new partnerships with AI vendors, platform providers, agencies, consultancies, and emerging technology companies

Lead pilot programs and proof-of-concept initiatives to assess new capabilities and accelerate innovation

Build scalable approaches for integrating external solutions into Amgen’s marketing ecosystem

Change Leadership & Organizational Enablement

Drive organizational readiness and adoption of AI-enabled ways of working

Develop enablement strategies, talent models, and capability-building programs to increase AI fluency across marketing teams

Lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders across commercial, digital, medical, technology, and operations organizations

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing, digital, technology, or commercial operations experience OR

Master’s degree and 6 years of marketing, digital, technology, or commercial operations experience OR

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of marketing, digital, technology, or commercial operations experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 5 years' experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the evolving AI ecosystem, including generative AI, agentic workflows, personalization, content automation, and marketing technology platforms

Strong understanding of omnichannel marketing, customer engagement, and commercial operations

Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that span business and technology organizations

Experience evaluating and managing strategic enterprise partnerships

Strong track record of inspiring change and driving internal and external impact

Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills

Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
