Job Description

As the OEC leader, you report through the AbbVie Office of Ethics & Compliance organization and are responsible for leading, executing, and continuously enhancing the local Ethics & Compliance Program in alignment with company standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The OEC Senior Manager serves as the primary in-country advisor on anti-corruption and broader compliance matters, while acting as a strategic business partner to enable responsible business initiatives through practical, risk-based guidance. This role is expected to work closely with affiliate leadership and key cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen a culture of integrity, support sound decision-making, and ensure the effective operation of core compliance program elements, including governance forums, monitoring, training, third-party risk management, and due diligence.

Job Responsibilities

Additional Information

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Advanced degree in Law, Business, Finance, Audit, Regulatory, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Compliance.

Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, including ownership of priorities, stakeholder management, projects, programs, and/or people leadership.

Strong experience in designing, implementing, and sustaining compliance programs.

Experience in multinational companies and highly regulated environments strongly preferred.

Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated life sciences industries is preferred.

Experience supporting business functions in a strategic partnering capacity is highly valued.

Skills

Strategic Business Partnering: Ability to support business objectives while maintaining strong compliance standards and sound judgment.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Ability to identify relevant risks, distinguish theoretical from practical exposure, and implement effective, proportionate controls.

Strategic Thinking: Able to set direction, prioritize effectively, and balance long-term program maturity with immediate business needs.

Integration and Influence: Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate as a fully integrated member of the affiliate leadership environment.

Process and Control Orientation: Strong knowledge of compliance processes, internal controls, and governance frameworks, with the ability to enhance and sustain them over time.

Expert Judgment: Sound decision-making under pressure, including the ability to handle ambiguity and complex situations with maturity and credibility.

Execution Excellence: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex compliance issues into clear, practical guidance.

Problem Solving: Ability to structure issues, analyze options, and propose workable solutions that protect the company while enabling responsible business action.

Change and Culture Leadership: Ability to promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical decision-making across the affiliate.

Technical Knowledge

Strong knowledge of: Compliance program design and execution

Anti-corruption laws and principles, including FCPA

Internal controls and process governance

COSO and SOx frameworks

Third-party risk management and due diligence

Compliance monitoring and training programs

Languages 

Fluent Spanish

Advanced English
