The Clinical Design Chapter is a team of clinical, medical, and healthcare system experts. It ensures that Roche Information Solutions delivers clinically meaningful, system-relevant, and economically viable digital and AI-enabled healthcare solutions that are adopted and scaled in real-world care settings. The Chapter plays a critical role in shaping clinical strategy, embedding

healthcare system insights into product development, and enabling effective go-to-market and adoption strategies.

The Chapter Lead Clinical Design & Medical Director CVRM combines enterprise leadership with direct clinical domain accountability. Reporting to the Head of Digital Technology & Health Information (DTHI), this role ensures that healthcare expertise is scaled across Roche Information Solutions (RIS) while directly owning the clinical strategy and medical leadership for the Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic (CVRM) disease area, particularly in the context of AI-enabled, data-driven care models and their real-world adoption.

Your upcoming mission

Define and drive the global clinical value design strategy across RIS, with a strong focus on digital health, AI-enabled care transformation, and real-world adoption. Lead and develop a global team of healthcare experts and medical directors. Act as the Medical Director for CVRM, owning clinical strategy and domain leadership for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases.

Ensure clinical, medical, and healthcare system perspectives are embedded into AI-enabled product development, data-driven decision support, and adoption strategies.

Ensure development of solutions that deliver measurable clinical, operational, and economic value, and are effectively adopted in clinical workflows

Act as a strategic partner to product, evidence generation, data science, UX,

commercial teams, and the broader Diagnostics organization, including supporting reimbursement and health economics propositions in collaboration with Market Access, Payer, and GTM teams

Duties

Define and execute the global vision and strategy for the Clinical Design Chapter, aligned with RIS’s overall strategy

Lead, inspire, and develop a global team of healthcare experts including other medical directors for oncology and neurodegenerative disease.

Establish clear priorities, operating models, and performance frameworks aligned with RIS strategy

Drive capability building across clinical strategy, healthcare systems understanding, and clinical adoption of digital and AI solutions

Foster a culture aligned with Roche Operating Principles, emphasizing impact, collaboration, and continuous learning

Medical Director – CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolic)

Own the clinical strategy for CVRM across digital health and AI-enabled solutions, with accountability for clinical relevance and adoption

Provide deep clinical expertise in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and renal disease management

Translate unmet clinical needs and care pathway challenges in CVRM into data-driven and algorithm-enabled product opportunities that fit real-world workflows

Guide development of solutions addressing chronic disease management, risk stratification, early detection, and longitudinal care, leveraging advanced analytics and AI

Act as the primary clinical authority for CVRM across product development, partnerships, and external engagements

Support evidence generation strategies specific to CVRM use cases, including clinical validation and adoption-relevant outcomes

Clinical Strategy & Healthcare System Integration

Lead the development of enterprise-wide clinical strategies for AI-enabled and data-driven healthcare products & solutions

Ensure translation of clinical and healthcare system challenges into scalable value creation opportunities

Provide strategic direction on how solutions leverage real-world data, predictive models, and clinical decision support to address unmet needs

Ensure solutions are designed for integration into clinical workflows and sustainable adoption across healthcare settings, considering healthcare system constraints and economic realities

Product Development & Evidence Enablement

Ensure systematic integration of clinical & healthcare expertise into AI-enabled product development cycles

Guide teams in translating clinical insights into product requirements, validation

frameworks, and evidence strategies

Oversee the development of medical and clinical value narratives for digital and AI-driven solutions

Ensure alignment between clinical strategy, evidence generation, data science

approaches, and regulatory considerations

Directly contribute CVRM-specific input into product design, prioritization, and validation, including clinical usability, interpretability, and adoption drivers

Healthcare System Insight & External Engagement

Drive deep understanding of global healthcare systems, including care delivery models, incentives, and barriers to adoption

Ensure external perspectives (clinicians, providers, health systems) are embedded into AI-enabled solution design, validation, and adoption strategies

Represent Roche externally as a clinical expert in CVRM and digital health innovation

Build relationships with key opinion leaders in cardiology, nephrology, metabolic disease, and clinical AI adoption

Support the development of thought leadership at the intersection of clinical practice, data, AI, and adoption at scale

Go-to-Market & Value Realization

Ensure clinical and healthcare system perspectives are embedded into go-to-market and adoption strategies

Support articulation of medical value and differentiation of RIS AI-enabled solutions, including drivers of adoption

Provide CVRM-specific clinical credibility in commercialization and external positioning

Collaborate with Market Access, Payer, and GTM teams to support the development of economic value propositions, evidence requirements, and reimbursement-relevant positioning

Contribute clinical perspectives to ensure alignment between clinical value, economic outcomes, and real-world implementation feasibility

Ensure consistency of clinical messaging across global and regional teams

Cross-functional Leadership & Enterprise Impact

Act as a key interface between clinical, product, data science, UX, and commercial organizations

Ensure alignment across global and regional teams to maximize clinical impact and adoption of solutions

Contribute to enterprise-level strategy discussions related to AI, digital health platforms, and integrated diagnostics

Drive prioritization of initiatives that maximize clinical impact, business value, and real-world utilization

Skills

Deep clinical expertise in cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases (CVRM)

Strong understanding of chronic disease management, care pathways, and healthcare system challenges

Solid understanding of digital health solutions, AI-enabled clinical decision support, and data-driven care models

Strong understanding of clinical workflow integration and drivers/barriers of adoption of digital health solutions

Ability to translate clinical insights into algorithm-enabled product, evidence, and business strategies

Working understanding of how clinical value translates into economic value propositions and reimbursement considerations

Strong leadership and organizational development capabilities in global, matrixed environments

Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across complex organizations

Strong business acumen and understanding of healthcare market dynamics

Excellent communication and storytelling skills

Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and drive strategic clarity

Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills

Education & Experience

MD required; specialization in Cardiology or Internal Medicine required

Demonstrated expertise in managing cardiovascular, diabetes mellitus, metabolic disease (in renal disease, a plus) MBA and/or PhD strongly preferred

Licensed physician with significant clinical practice experience (8+ years; board certification preferred)

10+ years of experience in healthcare, life sciences, digital health, or healthcare consulting

Experience with digital health, AI-enabled solutions, and/or clinical decision support systems (strongly preferred)

Experience in supporting implementation and adoption of digital health solutions in real-world settings (strongly preferred)

Proven leadership experience managing global teams and senior stakeholders

Strong understanding of regulatory, clinical, and healthcare system considerations

Experience working cross-functionally with product, data science, medical, and commercial teams

In Austria, we have a legal obligation to disclose the minimum salary according to our collective agreement, which is gross EUR 3.843  - per month for this position. But!
