Business Analyst - Pharma Medicines TechOps MES

Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst possesses in-depth knowledge of the business domain, relevant technologies, and organizational strategy to provide holistic, enterprise-wide consulting advice. In this role, you will apply systems thinking to navigate the complexity of interconnected systems, overseeing initiatives with full autonomy and leading analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces. Acting as a trusted advisor to leadership, you will actively shape long-term roadmaps, drive consensus through persuasive communication, and recommend optimal technology solutions for sustainable business transformation.

Description of the Area

Within RDT Pharma Technical Operations and specifically in the context of Manufacturing Technologies, the MES CORE SPOC bridges site-specific knowledge with MES CORE objectives, ensuring efficient recipe authoring, verification, and compliance with global standards.

Job Responsibilities

Scope / (Content Leadership): Oversees initiatives or streams with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale. Defines and leads analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces, navigates complex frameworks, and delegates work while managing the quality of business analysis content.

Accountability / Problem Solving: Leads the analysis of business problems, defining the problem space and driving comprehensive root cause analysis that may span organizational boundaries. Proactively prevents scope creep, manages the complexity of various scopes of change, and is ultimately accountable for business analysis deliverables ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.

Stakeholder Management: Identifies and engages key stakeholders, including management, across organizational boundaries. Shapes strategy as a trusted advisor to leadership, actively navigates conflicts to achieve alignment, and empowers teams in stakeholder management.

Impact / Strategy: Drives significant impact on projects and programs by ensuring the delivery of high-value solutions that align with business strategy. Leads the evaluation of strategic solution options, including advanced value analysis and risk assessment, and actively shapes long-term roadmaps.

Complexity / (Product Size): Works typically on a product or product line level, effectively managing highly ambiguous and evolving requirements in dynamic environments. Demonstrates a holistic viewpoint to analyze problems, considering potential micro and macro implications across related domains.

Business / Technical Ability: Uses in-depth knowledge of the business or technical domain and relevant technologies to inform business strategies. Leads the application of tools, principles, and techniques across complex and cross-functional initiatives, anticipating challenges and proactively integrating analysis into broader solution design.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 5+ years of Business Analysis/Consultancy experience in life sciences, medical, or pharmaceutical sectors in regulated environments.

Extensive experience overseeing initiatives with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale, and driving alignment across highly ambiguous spaces.

Demonstrated experience in translating requirements into strategic implementation plans that align with overall business objectives.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in working with Manufacturing Execution Systems, preferably Rockwell PharmaSuite.

Technical Skills

Advanced knowledge of Business Analysis/Consultancy concepts and practices, with intermediate expertise in at least one BA capability.

Strong proficiency in requirements elicitation and documentation, ensuring comprehensive requirements traceability and consistent change management.

Ability to independently apply tools, principles, concepts, and techniques related to requirements, data, usability, and process analysis.

Hands-on experience with MES configuration, recipe structuring, and execution in a regulated environment.

Strong understanding of industry regulations (FDA, EMA) and quality standards (GMP, GAMP5).

Knowledge of MES-DCS integration and ASPIRE (S/4 Hana) is a plus.

Additional Qualifications

Exceptional stakeholder management skills, acting as a role model in teamwork and driving good collaboration across Informatics and business structures.

Strong dedication to actively contributing to organizational development, including showing leadership in the Community of Practice and acting as a mentor for senior BA practitioners.

Proactive mindset with a focus on initiating process improvements and contributing to organizational development, such as active involvement in the Community of Practice (CoP).

Fluent in English; German is a plus.
