About the Job

We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Associate Scientist to join the neuroprotection and resilience cluster in the Neurology Therapeutic Area for a one-year fixed contract, focused on discovering, validating, and developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. This position is laboratory-based and will involve executing in vitro and in vivo experiments to identify and test new therapeutics. The successful candidate will have experience working in neurodegeneration in an academic or industry setting, with experience to perform cell culture-based experiments using iPSC cells and/or cell lines and supporting animal studies in models of brain disease. The ideal candidate will also have experience running different biochemical/bioanalysis assays including ELISA based systems.

Main Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain human iPSC-based cell cultures (2D and 3D), including monocultures and tricultures, to support compound and antibody screening activities, modeling disease-relevant and neuroinflammatory mechanisms in the CNS.

Measure compound exposure from mouse and NHP tissues and assess pathway modulation using biochemical and molecular assays including ELISA, Western blotting, and related methodologies.

Support in vivo studies aimed at evaluating compound pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) across multiple routes of administration, including intraperitoneal (IP), oral (PO), and intravenous (IV) delivery.

Design and execute experiments with scientific rigor; analyze and interpret data; and clearly communicate findings through internal and external presentations, reports, and team discussions.

Develop new lab workflows, integrating automation and AI where possible.

Collaborate effectively within a highly matrixed, cross-functional research environment across the Neuro Therapeutic Area and enabling research platforms.

Contribute to the advancement of novel drug candidates from early exploratory discovery through preclinical development and transition toward clinical stages.

About You

Basic Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related scientific discipline

Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in academic, research or biopharmaceutical setting

Experience with in vitro models and tools

Ability to maintain good laboratory research practice from lab execution to record keeping

Preferred Qualifications

Animal Research: Experience working with rodent models and proficiency in tissue collection and dosing

Advanced Lab Skills: Experience with in vitro models and tools beyond basic requirements

Good organizational and communication skills

Willingness to work both independently as well as on a team

Interest and enthusiasm to actively participate in daily group and laboratory functions.

$64.500,00 - $93.166,66
