Associate Programme Director (Hillerød, Capital Region of Denmark, DK)
About this opportunity
Associate Programme Director, Early Program & Portfolio Management, Drug Delivery Innovation
Do you want to influence the future of Novo Nordisk’s pipeline before products reach the market? Are you motivated by a role sitting at the intersection of clinical, commercial, delivery solution, platform strategy and portfolio perspectives?
If so, this is your opportunity to join Drug Delivery Innovation (DDI) as an Associate Programme Director and help shape delivery solution strategies for the next generation of Novo Nordisk therapies. Drawing on a broad network of stakeholders, you will play a key role in defining how future products are designed, developed, and ultimately brought to patients.
Your new role
As Associate Programme Director, you will drive early delivery solution strategies for 10-15 new drug assets from G0 to G2. You will represent the final product and delivery solution perspective in Global Project Teams (GPTs) and help translate early strategic choices into clear plans, timely engagement, and relevant actions.
You will create direction in the early phases of the pipeline, where strategic decisions on commercial positioning, device, primary packaging, user needs, manufacturability, scalability, and development approach are important for project progression and long-term predictability. Around G2, projects will be handed over to colleagues leading the late pipeline.
Key responsibilities include:
Shaping early delivery strategies for a portfolio of new drug assets and ensuring alignment with patient, business, and asset needs.
Representing DDI in cross-functional Global Project Teams and partnering with senior stakeholders, including Directors, Vice Presidents, and project leadership teams.
Identifying, initiating, and coordinating long-lead deliverables that support strategic project decisions and portfolio progression.
Driving stakeholder alignment, scenario planning, risk management, and strategic recommendations for future delivery options.
Contributing to broader portfolio and platform strategy initiatives that shape future delivery technologies, devices, and development approaches across Novo Nordisk.
This is a highly strategic role with significant autonomy. Rather than leading a single project, you will act as a trusted advisor across multiple programmes, providing direction, challenging assumptions, and helping teams navigate complexity and ambiguity.
Success will be demonstrated through your ability to establish strong relationships and credibility with key stakeholders across GPTs and functional leadership teams. Ideally, you can also contribute with expertise that strengthens either commercial understanding, delivery solution knowledge, or both within the team.
Your new department
You will join the Program & Portfolio Management department, which manages portfolio delivery solutions and represents the final product in Novo Nordisk GPTs from G0 to G5. The department consists of two teams with around 25 colleagues.
Program Portfolio Management is part of Drug Delivery Innovation, an area of more than 600 employees continuously developing innovative delivery solutions, including packaging, and finished product variants for our patients and users.
The official location is Hillerød, with regular collaboration and presence in Søborg.
Your skills and qualifications
To be successful in this role, we imagine that you have:
A Master’s degree in a relevant scientific, engineering, business, or healthcare discipline and substantial experience within complex project, programme, or portfolio management.
Proven ability to work across functions in a global organisation, developing the enterprise mindset needed to connect technical, business, commercial, and patient perspectives and influence senior stakeholders.
A solid understanding of the pharma value chain and pharmaceutical development, ideally combined with strong commercial understanding and knowledge of drug delivery solutions, medical devices, or delivery solution development.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
We are particularly looking for someone who demonstrates strong personal leadership and the confidence to influence others. You approach your work in a structured way and can operate comfortably at both a strategic and detailed level.
