Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM), a pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for an Associate Director, Product Mastering This position has a primary location of Madrid Spain a secondary location is Barcelona.

Position Summary The Associate Director, Product Mastering is responsible for maintaining and governing an end-to-end mastering capability for product-related data, beginning with compounds in Therapeutic Discovery (TD), extending into Regulatory and commercialization and loss of exclusivity.

This role ensures that product master data, including compounds, formulations, investigational products, clinical identifiers, regulatory submissions, and commercial brand hierarchies, is trusted, harmonized, and semantically consistent across the entire R&D to Commercial continuum. The AD will work cross functionally within R&D, Data science and support develop of ontologies and knowledge graphs to connect and contextualize product information across silos, enabling advanced analytics, AI/ML, regulatory compliance, and interoperability.

Key Responsibilities End-to-End Product Mastering Strategy

Help to develop a data and execute a data management strategy covering the full product lifecycle: from discovery through commercialization and LOE

Ensure a single, authoritative source of truth through stewardship of all product-related master data, harmonized across functions and systems.

Identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for automation, external data partnerships, and standards alignment.

Governance & Standards

Establish stewardship, and governance models for product master data across R&D, Supply Chain and Commercial.

Define and enforce standards for product hierarchies, and data model extensions.

Partner with Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial to ensure product mastering supports submission, labeling, and compliance needs.

Integration & Collaboration

Collaborate with Knowledge Management, Data Products, and Metadata/Cataloging teams to ensure product master data is discoverable, connected, and reusable across the enterprise.

Align with parallel MDM domains (e.g., patient, site, account) to ensure cross-domain consistency and best practices.

Quality, Performance & Communication

Monitor dashboard and track KPIs for product master data quality, timeliness, and traceability across the lifecycle.

Provide governance dashboards and reports to R&D and Commercial leadership.

Communicate the vision, progress, and value realization of product mastering to senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor or Master’s in life sciences, regulatory sciences, informatics, data science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred

Skills & Expertise

5+ years of experience in pharma/biotech R&D or commercial functions, with significant exposure to product lifecycle and regulatory data.

Demonstrated expertise in master data management, data governance, and data stewardship

Knowledge of ontology development, and knowledge graph applications.

Proven track record of integrating product data across discovery, development, clinical, regulatory, and commercial domains.

Strong understanding of product data standards (e.g IDMP), with hands-on experience with metadata management.

Ability to connect scientific, regulatory, and commercial perspectives into a unified product mastering framework.

Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Ability to influence and drive adoption of product mastering practices across functions.
