The Associate Director, Packaging Operations directs all aspects of the biological vaccine and pharmaceutical packaging or filling processes within BIAH. This role supports development and management of departmental capital and expense as well as develops and implements strategic initiatives to upgrade and automate packaging processes within BIAH.
The Associate Director, Packaging Operations provides technical competence and ensures a safe work environment through appropriate workforce planning. This role represents BIAH pharmaceutical packaging department interests to business contacts (customers, suppliers, etc.) externally and internally within BIAH.

Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises the Pharmaceutical Packaging or Filling operations to ensure appropriate supply of product in accordance with production planning and forecasting.
Ensures that the Packaging or Filling department maintains a state of regulatory compliance.
Ensures that the departments meet safety goals.
Supports SR Associate Director with the preparation and management of capital and expense budgets for Packaging operations.
Ensures that accurate inventories are maintained for all unlabeled inventory, printed packaging components, WIP and other components under departmental control.
Supports Business Process Excellence initiatives to ensure the development and implementation of new/automated processes and strategies within Packaging.
Implements and maintains product and process improvement practices and procedures.
Ensures key deliverables relating to product and process quality, cost and schedule adherence are met.
Investigates product complaints relating to packaging activities.
Provides direction to department staff and hourly workforce.
Trains personnel in project management, GMPs, SOPs, technical and business processes; ensures compliance with company policies.
Supports development and succession planning to ensure departmental bench strength and cultural diversity in the workplace.
On-time completion of OJT ' SOP and required policy training/compliance.
Ensures employee MAG objectives, development ' coaching plans are in place.
Identifies and troubleshoots problems in the Packaging department; documents findings and implements solutions.
Improves existing operations through collaboration with project leaders, staff, and trainers.
Supports the launch of new products and packaging concepts.
Ensures that the department meets EHSS goals.
Acts as liaison for inspections by any regulatory agency.
Shares expertise and represents the Global Animal Health interest in Packaging Operations.
Responsible for departmental (cost center) budget and projects.
Routinely interfaces with the following US ' International units: Finance, Cost Accounting, Warehousing, Production Planning, Manufacturing, QA / QC, Regulatory, Sales ' Marketing, Corporate Engineering, Supply Chain Management and POPU US Sites. Select Global BIVI International POPU Sites.
Requirements
Bachelors degree, from an accredited institution, in a relevant scientific discipline operations or related field.
Six-plus (6+) years experience within manufacturing, with experience in GMP biological vaccine and pharmaceutical production preferred.
Minimum four-plus (4+) years of experience must have been in a leadership role managing people.
Thorough understanding of ERP and automated process control systems; strongly prefer SAP experience.
Demonstrated problem solving abilities and analytical skills.
Excellent management, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong familiarity with automated production processes.
Knowledge of the manufacturing processes used in the fabrication of packaging components.
Demonstrated experience meeting operational budget constraints and tight production deadlines.
Ability to interface with personnel at all levels within BIVI and the corporation.
Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation in the industry/community.

Functional knowledge of product manufacturing activities is required.
Functional knowledge of USDA requirements for biologic production is recommended.
